I agree completely with the reviewer who compared this to a B movie. If you're looking for campy, gruesome, barely plausible, tomb raider meets Dr. M..Show More »oreau type ride, You, my friend, have found your book.
This is the definition of brain candy, if you're into this type of thing. Nothing literary here. Just a wild ride through someone who may have been on hallucinogens (or something similar) when thinking half of this stuff up. I thought it was rather entertaining and don't regret the time spent listening at all. I had my B-Movie cast in my head as I was listening, which made it all the more enjoyable.
I don't know if I would spend the credit again, but it was certainly consuming on a long drive. Solid three stars.
I am a big fan of the Project books by Jeremy Robinson and this book just built on the greatness of it's predecessors. The tongue in cheek humour was ..Show More »timed perfectly to suit the overall serious nature of the story. Definitely worth buying.
This book and the entire Nemesis saga are wonderful reminders of the pulps and drive-in creature features I enjoyed in my youth... These stories are ..Show More »the best and modern reincarnation of both... Kinda reminds me of a mix of X files and those creature flicks... Not really hard SF or gorey monster tale, but meets in the middle w/ supremely quirky humor and pop culture illusions... We have genetic engineering of both man and the aliens man is fighting... Godzilla reminiscent monsters like an exodus from Monster Island... Especially Hyperion who very much resembles the giant robot from one of those Godzilla movies... There also a bit of that Saturday morning cartoon appeal... Some obvious, and sneakily subtle references to StarTrek... Pricking of fingers like in The Thing Reboot... Great read w/ great narration and if you're a closet guilty pleasure kinad person you'll gobble this up... There's quite a bit of crossover w/ the other Robinson storylines, but was surprised the Chess Team didn't make an appearance... Worth the credit and a trip back into our miss spent youth;)
