Interesting characters. Dialogue that's not just info dump. All the dialogue goes like this: Character 1: We have to cross the sea. Character ..Show More »2: But nobody has crossed the sea in hundreds of years! As we all know the not-elves (wink-wink) did something and some other things happened so we're all very scared of doing that! I don't even know why I'm bringing it up!
The Sword of the North was a very good sequel to The Grim Company. Scull did not disappoint in this novel. The only problem was that less happened in ..Show More »this book compared to the first one. This is to be expected though, because this is going to be the middle book of a trilogy. I must say this book sets up a great novel, but I am not sure whether Scull will be able to gather the plot threads together to finish this series properly. I am very excited to see him work his magic. As a whole this book lacked nun of the flare, character development, or writing skill of the first novel. Also, the book was narrated very skillfully, the character voices were well developed and easily distinguishable. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and I look forward to the next installment.
