I was assured that this book was a 'clean read' but still romantic with a mystery. This I found very intriguing as you don't find many such books. I love my mysteries but put up with the explicit scenes. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written, though much too short for my liking. Usually I'm left wanting more after reading such a short book. But with this new series Linda Weaver managed to pull off the following. The mystery of the missing person that they try to uncover slowing, the slow and gradual growing understanding and appreciation of Amelia and Rick and the growing romance between William and his lady friend. All of which seem to happen simultaneously, as they follow William's diary. You've the MIB bad guys following them and the beautiful Bali island that is described in such a way that you can picture the scenery in your minds eye. I also enjoyed the Bucket list that Rick convinced Amelia on starting. I definitely have added Bali to my Bucket List!!
I can't wait to be able to read more of the Amelia Moore titles, I've noticed that they are available on Kindle but not yet on Audible. I think I'll wait for the Audible versions to come out as I really enjoyed Diane Lehman's narration. She's got a beautiful voice and I'll surely be looking for more titles by her.
This was a sweet and simple romantic mystery. Amelia Moore and her detective partner Rick Bonito head to Ireland to search for their client’s biolog..Show More »ical grandparents. This is book 2 of the Amanda Moore detective series. While I did not read book 1, this book stands on its own.
Amelia and Rick are both very likable characters. It was fun to see how their relationship is evolving. The plot is rather simple but it is very enjoyable. It is a good, clean story. This book would be very appropriate for teens and even preteens. It reminded me of the Nancy Drew books I read as a kid.
I received the Audible version of this book in exchange for an honest review and I do think that the narration enhanced the book. The narrator did a good job with the voices except for the youngest and the oldest of the characters.
This was my third Amelia Moore book and by far my favorite! I am not sure exactly why that is. There were a lot of likable things about this book tha..Show More »t I could connect to. I also felt like I knew Amelia and Rick very well by this time around, they are starting to feel like old friends. Even though each book is a new mystery and could all be read as stand-alones, they also all connect to each by the characters and their growing romance.
I think one thing I really liked about this one was that it took place in Mexico. I have never been before but it is a country I can relate to more than the others. I have had a lot of Spanish and Mexican friends and like Rick, I love Mexican food! Rick's love of food once again amused me.For him and me - the spicier the better! Bring it on. With all the talk and descriptions of the authentic Mexican food - it had my mouth watering.
A couple of little things I loved - there was a little side job Rick was working on, a "break-in" that was kind of cute and a nice added touch. I also loved the part about the old Chevy truck. A dream of my husband is to get an old truck (except it has to be a Ford!) and slowly, over time fix it up. I also loved the part she added about the importance of hugging!
Job well done Linda! I hope I enjoy the next one just as much - The Mysterious Doll.
My thoughts on the reader of the audio version - This is the same reader as for the others I have read. And again - I am not in love with her. I don't hate her, just don't love her. I didn't really care for some of the voices the tries to use and I thought her "baby-talk" that Amelia was suppose to do was terrible! BUT... there was singing in this one and the reader actually sang the songs and she was a fantastic singer, very nice voice! So I will put that in her favor.
Thank you Linda for send me this audio book for my honest review.
Once again Linda delivers a wonderful, fun, suspenseful, romantic and clean read! It is so easy to get addicted to this series. The further you go in..Show More »to this series the more you get to know Amelia and Rick - who are both delightful! Each book could be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend you read them in order only because of the developing little romance between Rick and Amelia. Another real fun cozy mystery, which I again listened to from audible.
There were a few surprises, so it kept you guessing through the end. Even though this was a nice mystery it was the little things that I really loved and kept me interested. I loved the part about trying Calamari for the first time. I myself have had it several times - deep fried with dipping sauce - YUM! With my love of ghosts and ghost stories - I loved the part about the haunted hotel! This was great, fun and interesting (it is a real place). And finally, I loved the part about zip-lining! Now this I have never done, but it is on my "bucket list" LOL (I'll get to that later). I have always wanted to try zip lining. It looks like so much fun! I'll let you know if I ever do it.
OK, now back to the bucket list. That is another developing theme that is carried throughout the series. In the first book Rick had a bucket list and he convinced Amelia to start one too. So now in every story they cross off things and add them to each of their bucket lists.
If you are a lover of cozy mysteries - this series is perfect for you!
Thank you Linda Weaver Clarke for sending me this audio for my honest review!
I really liked this story, as I have all the rest of the books in the series. I think my rating would have been one star higher with either a differe..Show More »nt narrator, or the Kindle version as opposed to the Audible edition I listened to, narrated by Diane Lehman. The story is really sweet and exciting filled with adventure, (clean) romance, and mystery. It is very positive and uplifting. The narrator's charcter voices sometimes grate on my nerves, especially Mr. Witherby. The voices for the minor characters come across as over-the-top. The voice for Rick, while not irritating, seems almost too "smooth," for lack of a better word. Despite all of that, it really is an enjoyable story. I look forward to the next mystery, and if you like clean romance and mystery, this book is a great choice.
This Audible version of Linda Weaver Clarke's book was wonderful! I love her narrator, Diane Lehman. She is so full of expression and very talented..Show More »! I loved listening to someone "tell me a story". I could listen as I drove to and from work and as I commuted on the train and even while fixing dinner. It's a great way to "multi-task".
I loved Linda's book! It's a great cozy mystery and for me it was awesome because she always writes about places that I know. This time her book took me to my old home in California, Palm Springs, and as she described it, I could totally visualize it! Then they were headed to Ventura Harbor. I used to live in Ojai which is very close by and trips to the beach in Ventura were a remembrance of years past for me!
But aside from this, the book held my attention to the very end. My only disappointment was that this is book 7 and will be the last of this series. I loved this clean romance and the resolution to the mystery. I look forward to reading other books from this great author.
I received an Audible version of this book from the author for my honest review, which I have given. All thoughts are my own.
