Right from the start this book draws you in and the more drawn in you get the more mysterious, thrilling and unpredictable both the plot and Mia and K..Show More »ing's dynamics become. King is ruthless, arrogant, a bad-ass and has a 'doesn't give a shit' attitude but somehow you can't help but be mesmerised by him. Mia is strong, caring and will go to any lengths to save her brother..... but she doesn't realise just what a frightening and nightmarish turn her life is going to take the more she is sucked into King's world
I won't even try to describe the plot except to say that nothing is as it seems and there's so many twists and turns you'll end up dazed. Don't expect romance because there isn't any but Mia somehow feels drawn to King and he puts his possessive mark on her however I don't think there will be any romance until maybe book 3. No, at the moment there's only been a few hot touches and body-to-body sizzles but nothing more.
It's told from Mia's POV by a very good Narrator who gives each characters a voice of their own and she manages to do male voices with ease. The deeper the plot pulls you in the more sinister and paranormal the story becomes and that's thrilling, chilling and very entertaining because, at the end of the book, you're left with more questions than answers. And the very very best thing is that you don't have to wait months to find out what unexpected twist Mimi Pamfiloff will throw in next because the whole Trilogy is available now..... and guess where I'm headed to next? Yup book 2.
Worth a credit? Expect the unexpected, have an open mind, don't look for an earth shattering romance or tender words yet and be prepared for a paranormal turn to the Trilogy. This book is the slow click click click as the roller coaster gently climbs to it's pinnacle and you're left hovering at the top desperately holding on with your pulse pounding waiting for the scary, thrilling and emotional ride that'll plunge you into the depths of the unknown. And, if you like the sound of all that, then you too will find this a creditworthy listen as I did.
With King's disappearance at the end of book 1 Mia has been forced into a terrible and terrifying situation.... Vaughn and the 10 Club will be able to..Show More » claim all of King's possessions - including her. So she can either give in to her fate or fight and call their bluff so what sort of trouble will the feisty woman get herself into? Well, the best and the worst because as the plot deepens rather than clear up questions it throws in more confusing ones and the only constant thought is that, despite everything, Mia and King should be together..... but you just can't imagine how.
King is beautiful, sexy, evil, tortured, charismatic, charming and cruel and Mia is brave, funny, kind and ever hopeful that she will win despite all the odds against her. The plot now delves much deeper into the paranormal and has a 'hate to want him' vibe and still no out and out romance or sex just sensuality, heavy petting and a sense that these two souls should be together. But the plot doesn't suffer because of this as you know it's building and it's going to be awesome between them. And then, just when you think you can settle down and like King again, he shocks you with another terrible twist that'll leave you reeling. Great secondary characters. Told from Mia's POV which often turns tragic or humorous and again Helen Wick delivers a good performance.
Worth a credit? Although there is no actual romance you know it's building and I have a lot of faith in Mimi Pamfiloff to make book 3 epic. There is however plenty of intrigue, suspense, mystery, twists and pulse-pounding weirdness in this entertaining listen that'll have you desperate to get to book 3. Very creditworthy and Hallelujah I'm off to listen to their finale.
Nothing, absolutely nothing can prepare you for this epic creative paranormal listen that slowly uncovers truths you never expected, twists you never ..Show More »saw coming and a love that defied death, decades, demons and curses. I cannot try to describe all that happens without possibly giving away spoilers but what I will say is that Mimi Pamfiloff is a very talented and imaginative paranormal author who has delivered the final puzzle to Mia and King's story with an emotional and exciting ride that'll leave you breathless but ecstatic.
The ride kicks off to a pulse-pounding start then it doesn't let up as it throws in curveball after curveball with complex and unpredictable twists which are intense, chilling, thrilling, romantic, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, sexy, mysterious, dramatic and through it all is a beautiful self-sacrificing love story. And, as the last few chapters finally explain the why's and the how's, you're mentally thrown back through each of the books to connect the dots and see the clues that were there all along..... mind boggling layers.
Told from Mia's POV but there were a few chapters/paragraphs from King's POV too and Helen Wick's narration helped to add all the emotions that this listen called for whilst you could always tell which, of the many characters, were talking and words became haunting mental pictures.
Worth a credit? This series is much more than I ever expected..... it's totally a new grid to any other paranormal listen..... way way out there. Very creditworthy and whilst it is a HEA ending it is open and could continue but whatever happens I hope Mack gets his own HEA story too.
