WHAT A JOURNEY, WHAT A LOVE STORY & WHAT AN AUTHOR
The Pubisher's Summary captures the premise of this story.. however it was the words, the chapters and the star-crossed characters that captivated me ..Show More »as Allison and Cedric instantly fell for each other at first sight. Furtive glances were made and a deep connection was felt - but loving words were never shared because the circumstances and timing were all wrong as Cedric had a girlfriend as well as secrets - secrets that could, and would eventually, devastate Allison and break hers, and Cedric's, hearts.
However, first there was a slow climb as they overcame misunderstandings, uncertainties, impossible odds and Cedric's constant guilty conscience because he was naively keeping back a very shocking and heartbreaking story from Allison in order to taste a little bit of Heaven before the truth would come out. And Cedric knew he was on borrowed time - because the truth was catching up.. and it was about to rock and change Allison's world.. as ghosts, painful memories and shocking revelations from Cedric's past would destroy hearts, futures, possibilities and beautiful dreams.
It was a very enjoyable slow to develop dual POV love story set amidst uncertain and tempestuous seas with likeable characters who finally worked through it all and got their HEA together. There were some touching sentiments, romance, passion, sex, a shocking secret, heartbreak, some unexpected new people joined the storyline and a sweet Epilogue. Good narration did what the Author couldn't do - they gave them voices and brought them, and all the scenes, to life.
Worth a credit? YES absolutely - I've had a very lazy Sunday listening to this book and I haven't regretted a single second of it.
Oh boy this book hooks you right in with the shy and nervous Nina and her infatuation, lust and ever growing feelings for her gorgeous, tattooed, pier..Show More »ced and very smart roommate Jake. Jake is so supportive and caring towards Nina and he picks up on all her insecurities and helps her as any good friend would do. But the more time they spend together the closer they become but Jake is giving off mixed messages and won't take their relationship to the next level. Every weekend he goes home to Boston and nobody knows why - there's a huge secret he's frightened to tell Nina about because it could ruin everything so when he eventually decides to share his secret with her he is one day too late..... one day that poisons their newly found happiness and joy leaving only despair, longing, heartache, regrets and pain.
What a captivating story because you so desperately want Nina and Jake to work things out but before you know it there's even more heartache, drama, angst, temptations and misunderstandings standing in their way before finally they get their Fairytale HEA ending. It was very touching and romantic at times and it also had it's share of sexy times too and eventually, when you thought their bitter-sweet love story was wrapping up, the author took you just a little further with them which was so perfect, loving, tender and a lovely ending.
Worth a credit? Dual POV's, two really good narrators and a highly emotional, sometimes funny, sometimes sexy, romantic and touching plot made this a very creditworthy listen. And one that had me saying "Oh just one more chapter"...... right through the night.
