I originally read book 5 as an ARC and was hooked. I was hungry for a nice new suspenseful, mystery romance thriller. And, Toni Anderson and Eric G. D..Show More »ove delivered. I immediately got book 1 so I could start back at the beginning. And, after reading that one, the boxed set came out! Each book takes you for a ride. I love the characters, the plots, the twists, the tension. It's just fun. And, it sucks you in right away. The only possible draw back is in two of the stories the heroine's tend to want to throw themselves into danger, with no regard for their safety or clear plan do anything productive, and that will only get them killed and not help anyone. And, yet they are both so smart and likable, these small parts just seem out of character. Otherwise, these stories are just fantastic. I have 1 book left in the series that I haven't read yet. I plan to get to that sooner than later. I am a fan of Toni Anderson and Eric G. Dove as narrator. And, I'll be ready and waiting for each additional story to come out as long as they keep me locked in and invested as they have so far. Can't wait for more.
My 1st novel by this author, standing up & applauding!! Wow this series will suck you in from the very first lines. I could barely turn it off and mor..Show More »e than once ran my device completely out of battery life. So, very well written, complex and well developed characters as well as a really engrossing story. Nothing was made too obvious as the story developed keeping me on the edge of my seat. At the same time you could feel the connection between the main characters and the banter between them was amusing on more than one occasion (yeah, I like a little snark). The intimate scenes were well written and not gratuitous and still very hot. I wasn't sure when I started listening if I was going to like the narrator but he very quickly won me over. This was also my first for this narrator. He did a very good job with the pace of the books and with the voices of each character. I would listen to more from him. I will be looking for more from this author.
Full disclosure: I received an ARC for an honest review
On a shopping trip with her son, Vivi Vincent is stuck in the middle of a mall shooting. She hides Michael in a cabin..Show More »et and tries to find a way out. Meanwhile, Special Agent Jed Brennan is trying to get as many people out as he can. When the dust clears, they find out that Michael may have heard names or plans significant to the terrorists' plots. However, he is a mute, eight year-old boy.
Audio Review: Eric Dove narrates this series. He utilizes multiple accents to accomplish character voices. It is always clear who is speaking and how they are feeling.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, thrilling mystery this is the book for you!
Cold Light of Day begins with Scarlett trying to clear her father's name for being the most notorious FBI agent who turned traitor to his country. At..Show More »tending a party at the Russian Embassy with her friend April LeMay and pretending that she is April's sister, Sarah Lemay was the first step, Scarlett could get in to bug the ambassador's office except somebody has beaten her to it. Scarlett could have walked away but she lost one of her earrings which put her on very dangerous people's radar, who don't want the case to be reopen.
FBI Agent Matt Lazlo stepped in as a representative for his boss, FBI ASAC Lincoln Frazer at the Russian Embassy party. He bumped into Scarlett who spilled champagne on him. He felt the instant attraction to Scarlett. He wanted to ask Scarlett for her number except he didn't feel comfortable to be dating anyone while he has family obligation.
When Matt discovered that Scarlett has lied to him of who she really is and what she attempted to do, he arrested her. As more people are being hurt and start dying, the FBI and Matt are starting to wonder if Scarlett's claim that they have imprisoned the wrong man for being a spy.
Cold Light of Day really have non-stop action. The action doesn't stay with the main characters. It gets spread out between the secondary characters in the story. The only thing that the readers/listeners know is that there is still a spy in the FBI Agency working with the Russians.
I love the cat and mouse game in the story. The Russians and the spy are trying to draw out Scarlett by attacking people Scarlett cares about. Matt and Scarlett are trying to stay one step ahead them from being killed and trying to figure who they can trust. There are so many twists and turns especially with the secondary characters who could possible be a spy(ies).
The narrator, Eric Dove did an excellent job. There are so many players in this story, it is amazing that he could give different voices to the characters. I hope he continues to narrate for the Cold Justice series.
I was given this audiobook by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
A first I wasn't sure I was interested in a story with ASAC Frazer but once it started I was hooked. Frazer wore his mask well but Izzy was able to g..Show More »et behind it and see the real man. ASAC Frazer is a sexy little beast...lol. He had control in everything he did even when things were out of his control.
I loved Izzy. She was a strong character but I was a bit disappointed that we didn't see that strength when it came to protecting herself. We were told she was capable, we felt she was capable but when it came down to it she needed a man's help.
Kit was an annoying little shit but i'll chalk that up to her being a 17yr old who thinks she knows everything and is owed anything she wants.
Overall I enjoyed the story and the writing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was listening. This was a great installment in the series. I started the series at book 2 with each passing book i'm more and more determined to swing back to book 1. The tidbits dropped about Parker and Rooney make me believe that their story was an explosive start to a great series.
story 3.5 Narrator 4
Eric Dove is an amazing narrator and I actively search out his work in the romance genre.
I KNEW Killion's story wouldn't disappoint. I was hooked from the first chapter. Audrey was strong and smart and didn't do stupid shit. She defered to..Show More » the experts to save her life and to keep her alive. I loved Logan and Noah, I hope Toni Anderson has a spin off planned for those guys.
The story was engaging and never dull. Patrick Killion was every bit as kickass as I thought him to be. I didn't get the sexy vibe from him in the other stories but wow was that rectified in this book. Danger, suspense, sex, oh my!!!
Now seriously I NEED to go back and listen to Alex's story, the little tidbits from books 2-5 lead me to believe that his story is EXPLOSIVE.
Not my favorite of the series. Excellent Narration
This was a decent enough story, not my favorite of the series. Erin was okay, there was nothing amazing about her and Darsh was just okay too. Nothing..Show More » great about him either really. They were mediocre characters to be honest.
The story line and plot was okay but I was missing the action like the previous books had. This was a small town murder mystery.
The romance was okay, they liked each other well enough, but it didn't feel real or genuine. There was a couple sex scenes, nicely written. There was lots of dialogue throughout the book which I like. It wasn't a bad story, just not great, which is what I was expecting.
As for the narration. Well, it's Eric Dove and you can't ever go wrong with an Eric Dove narration. He is fantastic. He does the women so good and everyone sounds different so you know who is speaking. He has a great reading voice and reads with emotion as called for. Love him!
