This started out great, and I was very happy I had bought it. The reader is stellar, and both Holmes and Watson are voiced to perfection. The introduc..Show More »tion of Dracula was appropriately creepy and ominous. Then, all of a sudden (SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT!!!) we have Mary (the wife of Dr. Watson) as a vampire, trying to turn Watson into a vampire, Watson wandering around the backstreets of London half vampire, grabbing dogs to feed his blood lust and slurping up blood off the charnel house floor. Really, I am NOT making this up, this is where this book suddenly took me. At that point I stopped listening and am returning the book. It's too bad, because the reader is excellent, but I was looking for authentic Holmes atmosphere, not some stupid schlock shocker comic book thing, written only to nauseate. Yuk.
