STORY (contemporary romance) - The story line of Falling Into You has three very different parts, with each having a different mood and feel. The fi..Show More »rst part is a sweet and sexually inquisitive romance between Nell and Kyle. (It will bring back memories of high school and your first love!) This part of the book ends with a horrible accident, and Nell holds Kyle's hand as he dies. It's heart-wrenching and made me cringe, and I was really glad when it was finished. At Kyle's funeral, Nell runs into his older brother Colton, a "bad boy" who lives in New York. (This is all in the publisher's summary - no spoilers here).
Fast-forward a few years, and the story changes to a much darker one. Nell blames herself for Kyle's death and is pretty screwed up about it. She runs into Colton again, and they start seeing each other. He's determined to help her heal emotionally, and he's also very attracted to her. We learn about his problems and his violent past, but we also see his creative and sensitive side. They share their guilt and emotions, but will it be enough to keep them together?
Then, in my opinion, the story changes a third time and turns very sexually explicit for a very long time. I'm not prudish or offended in any way, but this large part of the book is definitely X-rated. The story concludes well, and there's a nice performance of a song titled "Falling Into You" at the end.
PERFORMANCE - There are two narrators who alternate reading this book -- a young female for Nell and a male for Colton. Their overall performances are good, but the female's performance during the accident gave me goose bumps.
OVERALL - Pretty good book, but not great. It's touching and sweet, but there's also some difficult scenes. There's also lots of cursing and sex, which may be offensive to some listeners.
Falling into Us is a different journey. This story has it all. Friendship, laughter, hurt, passion, tears, fear, lust, pain and ever lasting love. J..Show More »asinda Wilder's writing is even more powerful, even more lyrical. We're led into the beautifully broken world of Jason, Kyle's best friend, and Becca, Nell's best friend. Jason is triumphant in his life. He's a top-ranked football player in high school. He's also hiding physical and emotional pain, and that's before things fall apart with the events described in book one. Becca lives a life controlled her father, and she struggles with a serious stutter and mentally ill older brother. She's extremely intelligent, and overly focused. She's a survivor. This book was beautifully romantic, and heartwarming. There were parts that make you tear up, but for the most part it flowed seamlessly. It's told in alternating POVs from Jason and Becca. This story is highly emotional. You get to experience what it was like for Becca & Jason to fall in love, how they had deal with the loss of a beloved friend, and grow into two amazing young adults. This book was a beautiful love story that spanned over 8 years of Becca and Jason's life. They went through so much sadness and heartbreak, but through it all they had each other. I thought Falling Into You was amazing, but I think I might love this book even more. Becca and Jason were perfect for each other. Their love story was magnificent...to find someone at 16 and never lose the love they felt for each other. Just perfect! The sexual scenes started out sweet, gentle and loving. Both Becca & Jason were under the age of 18 when they first started having sex and I think the author did a tasteful job. As time goes on…Hot, Hot, even Hotter! Energizer Battery none stop hotness!! This book really blew me away. This is a book about surviving life with love. Jason and Becca's story sends them through situations that are heartbreaking and wonderful. Falling Into Us does offer a twist within the story. It was one that I did not so coming and it totally shocked me, but I understand why it was added. It however was an integral part of the story. An epic love story that I highly recommend!!
This had everything I love in a romantic love story. You get to see the couple get together with a few (as usual) obstacles, but the love that builds ..Show More »between Kylie and Zo is so beautiful. The open relationship that Kylie has between her dad is so unbelievable, something that I wish my husband had with our daughters. I know it's only a book, but this one really pulled me in. I took the book everywhere with me and listened to it every free second I had. I haven't even finished the book yet but I wanted to start writing the review while it was fresh I my mind. This is my second book written by Jasinda Wilder And both books have far surpassed my expectations in a romance story. I hope there is more like this coming.
