With this it doesn't even matter if everything seems plausible or not.The plot was cool, the Russians hot, what more can you ask for in a curl up in a..Show More » chair to read book. Oh yeah a good narration, well it had that too. Fun fun fun
How much to I LOVE that Rivera has not only provided hunky guys, but that they love curvy girls. I'm not a big gal but I appreciate the real woman ex..Show More »perience. Dimitri loves every thing about Benny, enough to stay in his starter apartment above her bakery instead of building that large house he can afford.
This relationship starts off between two people who have known each other for a while, each pining after the other secretly until he finally makes his move. Benita's brother gets a cameo in the first book but becomes and absolute nuisance in this one and made me want to throttle him on multiple occasions.
I enjoyed this book except for one thing. ONE BIG THING.
I might rant a little. Scroll away if you don't want to hear it. :)
And I'm going to put in the spoiler tag even though it's obvious after the first chapter or two.
I adore Rivera's obvious promotion of safe sex. It's something that is mentioned throughout all of her books. She slips up here tho. After using condoms for their first foray into the hot steamy scenes you'll love, They wake up together and go at it, only after it's over realizing they forgot one important barrier.
It's the treatment of the aftermath I can't ignore. They even DISCUSS IT. Oops, we forgot the condom. Are you on the pill? No...
And that's it. I kept waiting for the whole, well that's how babies are made maybe we should do something... or not... what do you think? But nothing happened. They went about their days. So I thought, maybe we just wouldn't talk about it and she would do the whole day-after thing or he would think about what a future with her and a baby would be like. Again, they just had unprotected full blown sexy time and just... nothing.
So at the end, when she's throwing up... she's SO CONFUSED. And I was very irritated at this point. What could it be? Food poisoning? Hmm... what ever could be the problem???
Benita seems like an intelligent-ish girl. Dimitri has a few brain cells up there. I can't understand how this is a weird shock. You had unprotected sex, ignored it after, and aren't even the least bit suspicious she could be pregnant?
End rant. Yanked a star for it. Okay maybe two. Could have been a 5 star book.
Kudos to Pinky Powell for handling all these touch accents. She's one to watch.
As a romance lover, these Russian Alphas that Roxie has created tick all my boxes.... they have a sexy accent, they're protective, loyal, loving, tatt..Show More »ooed, handsome and, of course, very hot. On top of this Yuri is mega rich but will spend it all for the woman he loves...Lena. Yuri has been crazy for the strong, independent, all business Lena for a long time but the timing was never right then she appeared in his Club one night and all of a sudden the timing was perfect.....how wrong they were.
This was an all action listen with deals going bad, art theft, the Mexican Cartel, a traitor or two, secrets, kidnapping, attempted murder and murder - all while they were trying desperately to fall in love but each one brought their own share of past demons and present day threats. These two had great chemistry, easy playful banter, good heart-to-heart's, passion, romance and some hot times. There's humor too especially from a beast of a dog who proves himself a loveable hero.
Worth a credit? Told from dual POV's by a narrator that was good with some accents but poor with others, great secondary characters and a close bond is shared between Yuri's 'brothers' and Lena's friends from past books as they are all brought in on the action and stand-by each other. Good storyline made this a great listen and very creditworthy and I'm now desperate for Nikolia and Vivian's story next.
