After reading hardcore gory murder mysteries some times you just need a little light reading. But readers beware they are out of order in how they are..Show More » listed in audible. So I had read the last book of the series first. This book is the first in the series and needs to be numbered as such. However I enjoy the characters and the narration.
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery, and I especially liked that it had fun recipes and mini stories tucked inside the main story. It meshed well toget..Show More »her and helped to develop more of an understanding of our main character and detective extraordinaire, Haley. She is busy balancing being a single mom, a new job, dating, and solving a mystery that happened to fall into her lap. It's a good cozy, pretty believable and enjoyable overall. Worth a credit!
This installment of the series had a really interesting plot twist which I didn't see coming. I did sort of suspect who the killer might be, but I def..Show More »initely didn't know why. It's nice to be surprised in a cozy & the plot moves along at a good pace. There wasn't nearly enough Liddy & Mona though, and same with Randy. Aaron was present even less. It was a strange dynamic as the attention shifted more to some of the other side players with the "popular girl" clique. Not bad, but if you follow this series you'll notice that change. Hailey was also a little more immature & irresponsible than usual...She acts like a 5 year old with Bruce & The laughing fit during a funeral was irritating. Overall I wish the core cast was more present to make Hailey more likable. But it's still a great plot & wonderful narration as usual!
I rate this as a fan of the genre of cozy mysteries, not literature in general. I really like this series and the recipes are good and inspiring too. ..Show More »I love the fact that Audible now provides the recipes as a download, so I don't need to pause the story and write the good ones down.
My judge of a good book is that the performance is entertaining does not distract from the story, the story is written and paced well and the two fit together in a way that I want to drive in the slow lane to hear more of the book before I reach my destination. This book hits all of those points.
I think it's a good thing when the thing I dislike most about a book is waiting for the next one in the series.
