This was the first book I've read (listened to) by this author. I plan to read many more because I enjoyed this one so much.
Hannah lives wi..Show More »th a secret that she has shared with no one. It's amazing how one secret can affect so many people but this story illustrates just how that can happen.
Hannah grows up with Samuel and Christian who are best friends. Samuel leaves their Amish community without warning but leaves a note behind saying goodbye. Hannah and Christian get married and attempt to start a family when tragedy strikes, threatening to reveal her secret.
This is not your typical "feel good" Amish novel. It brings up real-life situations that can, and do, happen and the harsh consequences of our decisions. Because of some bad choices we make, we can struggle with shame, remorse and many more heartbreaking emotions. Fortunately, this story also focuses on forgiveness and trusting in God. If you make it through this book with dry eyes, you are much tougher than me.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone wanting a closer relationship with God or desiring to learn the importance of forgiveness.
I received an audio version of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first experience with an audible book and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The story itself is a wonderful story of God's redemptio..Show More »n and love. The gospel is clearly presented through the writings of J.E.B. Spredemann. It was fun to listen to the different voices used by the reader Lisa Larsen.
Writing was very poor from the beginning. Lil hasn't seen Thomas in what, a decade or something, since they were children, and they happen to run int..Show More »o each other and say they love each other and want to get married. That's just stupid, they don't even know each other, and this was AFTER he said he didn't believe in God. Then there is the rape scene with her new boss. Disgusting and pathetic and depressing, could not listen any further. Will try to get a refund.
