The story itself is okay, I wish I had actually read this one instead of listening to it. It isn't my favorite Maya Banks, The characters are TOO dam..Show More »aged to let the story really heat up.
The real deal breaker though was the narration. Kylie is sooooo whiney I spent a good deal of time gritting my teeth thru her portions, And her man's tones, sounds a little like......well.....Forrest Gump. My internal loop kept playing "Run Forrest Run" and Stewie's "Mom Mom Mom Mommy Mommy Mommy." which made it a little tough to get into the parts that actually were hot.
Tate and Chessy have been married for five years. Their relationship is one of a Dom/submissive. This is always work for them and what they desir..Show More »e from one another. However, for the past couple of years Chessy has felt neglected as Tate works to build his financial firm.
It all comes to a head on the night of their anniversary. Chessy is left to make the reservations and Tate agrees to meet her at the restaurant. However, after two hours of sitting by herself she realizes that once again, Tate has chosen business over her. She gets ready to leave and sees Tate, with another woman, in the restaurant. She is shattered.
What follows is an ongoing conversation between the two of them over what Chessy needs, but being a submissive she is not supposed to say what she wants. It is a rocky road with their ups and downs, broken promises, expectations, etc.
The narrator was good with female voices, but I do not know what or who she was trying to channel with the male voices. The whole series is awkward because of her performances of the male characters. It really took away from the story for me.
