This is the first in a series. This novel is about half the usual length. This means that Evans has to setup quick and get to the point fast, which sh..Show More »e does very well. The plot, is about an old flame (Mason) coming back to find Lark after running out on her four years earlier.
I like the progression of the plot and the supporting character back stories, they will be the targets of the next stories. I like the pace. When you listen, be prepared for a whiplash scene where you say to yourself, "what the heck just happened?" I hope that piques your interest.
If you are interested in a quick listen, over the weekend, or a long beach day, then this book will do it for you. It's light, interesting, the narration is good and you will want to read the other books in the series. I give it a thumbs up.
In the first novel we meet Aria. There is a scene where she gives you whiplash. That being said, Aria is a tough nut to crack and in this second novel..Show More » where she tells her story. The story is extraordinary in an ordinary way. That is, you can actually envision a story evolving similar to this plot. I recommend this is second installment. You'll finish it with a smile on your face.
This novel is 5 hours plus and has to be only half the story. The plot is nice and uneventful. There is no real tension at any point. My only conclus..Show More »ion is the next and final book in the series must hold the rest of the novel.
I am confused by why Evans would approach the third sister's story this way. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt, and hold judgment to the last novel. The first two in the series are quite good, so something is afoot -- I hope. Give it a read.
The short 2+ hour listen is a novella epilogue. Evans does a great job wrapping up the trilogy in this extended epilogue. Most epilogues tell rather ..Show More »than show, it is a nice change to have a showing epilogue. In this novella, Evans paints a picture for the future of each March sister. Also, she fills in a few details from book three. In book three she left a teaser which she resolves. Btw, we meet a new character.
This four book set a is a solid listen from beginning to end with varied plots lines and twists. The narration is consistent and well done. I think anyone interested inthe genre will enjoy the set and appreciate the wrap-up.
