This omnibus was very enjoyable. Can be enjoyed by adults and YA. There is violence and blood but no cussing or sex. I like to check out omnibus recor..Show More »dings as it gives me a chance to check out authors I otherwise would not take a chance on due to the minimal recording time. Anything less than 20 hours the author would have to be up there with Robert Jordan, etc.
THERE ARE FAR WORSE THINGS THEN BEING A BIT SIMPLE It took me a little while to get into this. The more I got to understand this world and Olivia ..Show More »the more I enjoyed it. I love a strong Sexy Female character. Though I could not give this five stars, I was intrigued enough to give the series a try. Many books seem to have a character of their own and put me into a different mood. This book put me in the same mood, I had when I read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I am not sure why. Olivia is not exactly a lovable character, but most certainly a interesting one.
Just the right mix of horrified "oh my gosh Shae Ford isn't going to do THAT", laughter, and conclusion(s).
While her writing is not as detai..Show More »led as a Tolkien, or Brandon Sanderson, etc. the world is engaging (even if the geography is not..... but hey if the worst I have to say about a book is that its GEOGRAPHY is cliché.... I would say that is quite the accomplishment).
The major difference between this book and others in the series is that you are not Only/just following Kael's world view, but many of is friends as well.
Having trust that an author is going to have written something that appeals to you, and that the work in front of yous is something you would gladly purchase again, is a great thing. I know that anything I buy from Jim Butcher, Brandon Sanderson, Kevin Hearne, etc. are going to match my desires. I now add Ms. Ford to that list.
