A diversion from the deep and dark thrillers and mysteries I have been listening to however a bit too sweet. I did find it rather bold the use of the ..Show More »word "cock" frequently in this book! Yes, of course there was sexual activity in the story, but I thought that choice of word was a bit pornographic in what I thought was more of a sweet romance type story.
This is the second book by Nancy Herkness that I've read and can't wait to read more. I've found another fantastic author to follow. This story is..Show More » of an artist (which I relate to being an artist myself) who has been sheltered to some extent due to an illness of her youth. After her car breaks down on her way to a small town art gallery , she meets a man who not only captures her heart, but helps give her the courage to meet life head-on and face her fears. She also comes face to face with a horse that haunts and inspires the artistry that she sets to canvas. This meeting invokes a kinship between the two that enriches both their lives as she whispers her hopes, dreams and fears to the angry steed.
This was not an ARC(Advanced Reader's Copy). I read this book thru Kindle Unlimited.
I really am enjoying these stories that seem so purely modern, American and simple, yet are vividly sensual. The story is so good in this one, that I..Show More » found myself zoning out a bit during the racy scenes and picking back up when our hero or heroin got back to their lives. I love the animal influence in this series. I can't have any pets, so I like to hear of the sort of companionship they offer. A really good read, but I do recommend reading all of these Herkness' books in order, or you may be at a loss.
