The narrator is probably better suited to children's novels. She has a gravely almost grandma voice. It just put me right out of the mood to hear her ..Show More »talk sexy. The plot was worse, though. I stopped listening to it half way through it and I am not in the least tempted to pick it back up. It sounds like a divorced woman's wet dream the entire way through. A man bringing guilt free pleasure to an unhappy wife pretty much sums it up. He helps here explore her sexuality after a life with a bland cheating husband, the story was predictable, the character depth was attempted but not really there, and the sex parts rival penthouse.
I swear I have a life, a job, my obligatory 2.2. kids but I could NOT put these two books down! They both just felt so real! There are no navy seals..Show More », no sexy firefighters, and no shifters no paranormal at all...they just both had the feel that this COULD happen in real life, and they just swept me away because of it!
In book 1 we saw Sophie Black being left with a choice...her estranged husband who has been carrying on a multiple year affair with another woman....or her lover Lucien Knight who has walls over walls protecting his heart from any emotion.
In book 2 we see Sophie working through her choices....like a NORMAL person! Does she want to fix things with Dan? Does she even want anything with the emotionally closed off self professed hater of the word "love"...or should she begin her own life without either of these two men?
This book was just as good as the first, if not better. We get the conclusion to Sophie's story...and we find out a few more things about Dan and Lucien...and of course Sophie too. The hot rating is still HOT...and the mind eroticism may have slowed down some, but with emotions running rampant it would be misplaced to have too much of that going on.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the author for not inciting drama for the sake of continuing the story arc...it flowed perfectly without misunderstandings between the characters and contrived drama, this hit all the right buttons and then some! I can’t recommend this series enough!!!! I'm off to download the third book, which I hear is Kara's story.
What I absolutely loved about book one and book 2 in the series was nonexistent in book 3. Maybe it is because it didn't focus on Sophie and Lucian, I..Show More » don't know but this book was so full of contrived drama I couldn't finish it!!!
To top the list we have a hidden marriage, baby mama drama because it's not your baby, hiding the truth from everyone you know, the girl you love doesn't even know your real name, and the girls ONLY demand is honesty....UGH! Oh and the narrator attempts an American accent and fails miserably!!!
Books 1 and 2 will forever be on my listen to again list because they were magic. As for book 3, I will pretend it was never published!
