What a great start to what is hoped to be a brilliant new vampire series on the same lines as the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I really enjoyed it, yes ..Show More »it was a bit predictable but aren't all Romance books. Poor Samson is just a love damaged vamp with an erectile disfunction who, after months of trying, is suddenly cured by one unsuspecting human woman who stumbles into his life.
There are lots of Scanguards all over the country/world mentioned in this book so hopefully it will be a long running series.
Worth a credit? If you, like me, like your Vampires handsome, hot and oh so sexy, then you're gonna love these - so it's a YES from me.
I enjoyed reading this book. I first picked it up because I really liked the first Scanguard Vampires series, Samson's Lovely Mortal. So when I notice..Show More » this book was finally on audible and I jumped at the chance to read it. Amuary is a vampire that has a gift or you could say curse. He is forced to feel everyones emotions except love. He is unable to feel love for anybody. The only thing that can briefly alleviate this misery is sex. So he constantly has sex to help with the pain from his gift/curse. Nina is a street smart human, determine to find out what really happened to her brother that made him commit suicide. She begins looking into his death and she finds her way to Scanguard, the security agency Amuary works for. Upon their first meeting, the attraction between them is electrifying. Neither one can resist what is happening even though they both know it's a bad bad idea. So begins the story...
There are several things I enjoyed about this book. First Tina, writes some hot sex scenes. Truly they can melt your headphones. Second, the narrator, Kevin, does a superb job with the male voices. His voice is a deep rich luscious sound. Third, the book captivates you from the first line until the end. Usually books of this nature take awhile before you can actually get interested but Tina write characters that are intriguing and relatable.
The only thing that I didn't like about this book. With many male narrators, Kevin does a bad job of imitating a woman's voice. They are shrill and have the tendency to sound like a outraged teenager. Not the strong lead female characters they are suppose to be. If you can get pass this, the book is really worth a read. Worth a credit, yes, yes it is.
Poor Gabriel - a disfigured, once handsome sensitive hero with a 'sexual problem' that put's the ladies off so rarely does he get involved with the op..Show More »posite sex unless he pays for it. That is until they rescue Maya, a recently attacked and turned vampire, then suddenly he becomes irrational, protective and obsessed but because of his 'problem' he tries to keep her away.
Maya is drawn to Gabriel, hungers and burns for him, but she is being stalked by a mystery vampire and Gabriel is trying to take his duties very seriously by staying close to her but he's getting distracted by both Maya and finding a cure for his 'problem'.
There's mystery, action, adventure, twists, murders, humor, surprises, passion and when his problem suddenly becomes an advantage it results in some HOT HOT sex scenes (so be warned). In this very enjoyable, entertaining, emotional and addictive listen you can't help but like both main characters and empathise with Gabriel's situation, it's also filled with other mysterious Scanguards that I'm sure we'll be hearing about and I can't wait.
Worth. Credit? Daa that's a BIG FAT YES and please keep em coming Tina.
At first I was a little let down with this one. Yvette and Haven fight more then anything else in the beginning, but as the story develops, you can s..Show More »ee things change between them. Haven is looking for his lost sister and killing vampires when he can. But he is also taking care of his brother. As you learn more of Haven's story and Yvette's along the way, you can see what they both really fear. This one starts out slow, but it builds to a great end and one I wasn't expecting at all.
With each passing book, I have to wander more and more what Zane, Thomas, and Oliver's stories are and how they will end.
Yvette told Zane “I hope you fell in love with your worst enemy”. Little did Zane know how true her words would ring. Zane’s Redemption is exciting, p..Show More »assionate, soul redeeming book.
Zane is a fierce warrior who doesn’t believe he deserves to be loved because of what was drilled into him as a young man inside of a concentration camp. He has become a jaded, cold, violent vampire whose only motive in life is to kill those that wrong him and his family. He believes his heart can’t love again until he meets the young innocent Portia that tempts him like no woman ever has. Portia is a hybrid (half human, half vampire) determined to lose her virginity before her body set into its final vampire form. No man has ever made Portia body sizzle like Zane has and she is determine to learn more about the man than just a physical attraction.
I am a huge fan of all the Scanguard books so this was no exception. But of all the books in the series, this book was the most beautifully written with a heartbreaking back story. Zane was scarred not only emotionally but mentally as well. Portia has her work cut out for him, trying to save Zane but it’s worth it in the end. To say that I enjoyed this book is an understatement. This book is a great addition to any PNR fan that loves, romance, excitement, a little suspense, some hot sex scenes and a HEA to top it off.
It’s worth a download. All the books in this series are worth a download. Love them!
This was not quite what I was expecting. In the first 5 books everyone found their mate. In this one Quinn not only knew Rose, but he had married he..Show More »r when they were both human. But they only had 1 night together, now 200 years later Rose needs Quinn's help. All that time Quinn thought Rose was dead. Now he almost lets his pain and hurt keep them apart now other then the "Job." While their story is interesting, the most interesting part for me was when Thomas faces his Sire. I look forward to Thomas's story.
This series started off really strong, I loved the first books and then the last couple were a chore to get through. This one is really well done but ..Show More »there are parts that are super annoying.
Oliver is a really interesting character because we have known him from the beginning of the series and experienced his turn in the last book. I really liked that he had to struggle and we got a glimpse into what happens to a new vamp. It makes him more real than some of the other guys. I also applaud him for not buckling in the face of all his "friends" doubts.
Ursula is another great gal, she had been through so much and kept fighting. If I had been held for years and only knew pain from vampires it would be unlikely I would trust any, even ones who saved me, right away. Her strength and sass were engaging throughout.
The smexy steam was delicious. I loved the car scene. Oh girl, you will need a cold drink for that one! And when the narrator, Eric G. Dove, reads it to you in his delicious voice...goodbye panties! He has such a way with his words. I could listen to him for hours, oh wait, I did!
It is becoming a theme in the books that the hero has to fight his friend about the girl. None of them had an easy road to love, so it is annoying they forget how they felt in a similar situation. I also felt they vilified Oliver for his past addiction, way to make him feel like he can over come his mistakes. I was really PO'd at the whole scene where nobody would believe him about what he had and had not done. And then when he is proved innocent all he gets is a backhanded apology. Not cool at all!
I am eager for the next book, even though MM is not really my thing. I want to see Thomas get his HEA, especially after his heartbreak in the first book.
Man! This was so good. Such a romantic love story... what have I been missing with Tina Folsom... this was my first Folsom book... but not my last... ..Show More »I just went and added the entire series to my wish list!
I am so picky about my vampire books that I usually pass up on vampire paranormal romance... Only two authors ( Ward and Frost) seem to do my kind of vamps... Folsom makes three...
The drama, action and smex was all perfect.... Loved Eddie.... the action was not edge of ur seat... but steady throughout the entire story... and the interwoven romance between Thomas and Eddie was done so well...
I must say... since I am a m/m romance fan... usually in a practicality m/f romance series when there is a m/m couple the author will tone down the smex during that book... but Folsom did an awesome job... if this was tone... then I will most definitely go back and read/listen to the others!!!
Narration was great too... I didn't like my first Dove narration...but he is awesome in this book..
Another successful book by Tina Folsom. We finally get to figure out who Cain is and it took a twist I wasn't expecting. I enjoyed the "fake it unti..Show More »l you make it" method that Cain took until he regained his memory. Although the mystery part wasn't all that mysterious, because you already can figure out who the bad guy is, the romance was off the chart. As usual in this series we get to see a lot of the old cast in this book. My favorites in this series still are Gabriel's Mate, Zane's Redemption and Thomas's Choice. Narrator does a great job as usual. Other vampire authors I recommend are Kresley Cole, Thea Harrison, Molly Harper, Charlaine Harris, and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Vampire Luther deserved his 20 year sentence for trying to kill Samson's pregnant wife Delilah but he had his misguided reasons for seeking revenge on..Show More » Samson and Aumury (book 2). But what he didn't deserve was the cruelty inflicted on him while in the Vamp Prison, cruelty that left him a scarred and haunted shell of the man he once was. Haunted by memories of his happy past that so quickly got snatched away from him leaving heartache and a bitter man in its wake.
Over half of the Scanguards, their partners and their now grown offspring, were at the University of San Fransisco where the Drama Department were putting on the Shakespearian Play A Midsummer Night's Dream that Isabelle, Samson and Delilha's 20 year Hybrid daughter was performing in. Security was tight, nothing was left to chance, but it still ends up being a nightmare of epic proportions when their beloved daughter is kidnapped beneath their noses. Beautiful Katie is the Drama Teacher, an ex Movie Star and a Witch with no powers and she feels responsible but it'll turn out she is much more heavily involved than anybody realises. And, as fate steps in, Luther was outside when all Hell broke loose and he became the No.1 suspect.
Later Luther and Katie meet and there's instant attraction and sizzling chemistry but, physically and mentally scarred Luther, tries to resist the pull but Katie could see his vulnerability and his soft side so she wanted this dominant, hardass Alpha Vampire and, after showing some irresistible feminine charms, hallelujah...... she unleashes a sex starved passionate thoughtful lover. They work together to catch the kidnapper always knowing that their romance had an expiry date because Luther had no intentions of sticking around.... being hated by everyone except Katie.
As Luther gets a second chance at happiness there's lots of drama, action, suspense and a twist as he, Katie and the Scanguards have to unite to piece together clues, track down and outwit a very clever kidnapper before Isabelle's time runs out. And, in doing so, Luther finally atones for his sins, receives forgiveness, finds redemption and discovers love when he thought he didn't deserve it, wasn't looking for it, didn't want it, was walking away from it and yet, when it's in mortal danger, he suddenly realises he was going to fight for it, cling onto it and never let it go.
There's a host of loveable characters from previous books and their Hybrid teenage and adult children and Tina Folsom has expertly moved the series ahead 20 years to make way for the offspring of our favourite couples from all the previous books to get involved in the stories and I can't wait to see what she does with it next.
Worth a credit? Dual POV, great narration by Eric Dove, plenty of passion and sex and an exciting and enjoyable storyline with a cast of old and new loveable characters..... so, if you're a PNR lover, what more can you ask for from a credit.
