Dulcie O'Neil is an idiot. For some reason this particular genre has a common type: stubborn, impulsive, overly emotional, with very poor judgment, an..Show More »d Dulcie just may be its poster child. She acts first and thinks later, ignoring both very good advice and flashing neon signs reading "Don't go in there!" The question isn't so much "how is she ever going to get out of this one," it's "how did she ever get herself into this one." And, that's just her professional side. She comes with as much emotional baggage as dysfunctional family of four. But, she is also highly principled and fiercely loyal to those she cares about. When she puts her own life on the line, it's to help and protect others.
The plots and other characters are interesting and, when Dulcie isn’t getting in her own way, there’s enough suspense to keep the reader engaged. By the third book, Great Hexpectations, it appears our little girl may be growing up. The narrator, Therese Plummer is very good and does a great job of bring all the characters to life.
All and all, I do recommend the series if you don’t mind periodically rolling your eyes and thinking, “For God’s sake, Dulcie, grow up!”
I am unsure about this series; I'd looked forward to the opportunity of getting to know more about the main character & the few other (regularly) supp..Show More »orting characters. However, this tale seemed more frenetic & disjointed - almost as if the author was unsure where to take the story & even more so, unclear as to which characters should have more supporting roles. As stories (and characters) go, there isn't a lot or consistency or depth yet again, I started this series because I was looking for something that wasn't too heavy & offered a bit of amusement. I'm unsure the series has the potential for the long term commitment I was looking for & others reviews are mixed. Therefore, I'm going to take a bit of a hiatus, check out another of this author's series & decide then whether or not I'll complete this one.
I zipped through the first two stories of this series and enjoyed them. This one was a little more "sexy" than I like but still an entertaining read...Show More »..with a MAJOR cliffhanger. Curious to see what Book 4 is like!
Therese Plummer did a very good job bringing these characters to life!
This series is running out of steam. This one wasn't so good. I guess the storyline is hard to stretch or something. I think the narrator's okay, but..Show More » the get up and go has got up and went.
There is A LOT OF SEX in this book. That's not true. There is a lot of TALKING ABOUT SEX in this book. I am not a prude, I understand that there was s..Show More »ex in the rest of the story, but with all of the EPIC WAR going on, there seemed to be much more love and not a lot of war.
