I really, really enjoyed this story! I was surprised to learn that this was Jacquelyn Frank’s first novel. She did an excellent job of creating a worl..Show More »d of Demons and other Nightwalkers.
This story revolved around Jacob the Enforcer of the Demons and his unnatural attraction to Isabella. Unnatural because Jacob is a demon and Isabella is a human librarian and the Demon laws forbid him from pursuing his interest in Isabella. Not only do the laws forbid the interaction between species, but he is the one that is supposed to enforce the law!
I love the compelling attraction that Jacob and Isabella have for each other. I love the romance that draws out between them. In this first book of the series, there is a lot of ground laying facts and information so you can fully grasp the demon world and laws. Ms. Frank also gives you information regarding the different type of demons and the powers that they have. Even though you are given this information, there is enough that wasn’t given to make you curious and want to read more.
I think the narrator Xe Sands did a great job narrating this story. Her voice was easy to listen to and the characters were easily distinguishable from each other. Xe Sands has one of those voices that has great inflections and she was able to draw me into the story right away. To be honest, I actually thought there was more than one narrator, but that’s a good thing.
I will definitely be going on to the next in the series!
The narration of this series is what pulls me into the books, the stories may be over the top but listening to Xe Sands bring these characters to life..Show More » with the perfect accents and character development equals pure listening enjoyment.
Once this book finally got going with some dialog instead of all the thinking and telling of the story I enjoyed it. The "voices", the interpretation ..Show More »of the characters personalities and their actions were all spot on.
This series is fabulous as narrated by Sands - Audio is the ONLY way to go with these books.
This is Noah’s story (obviously, right?) So we have to take all the things that we have learned about Noah in the last 4 books and apply them to his ..Show More »story. He is a diplomat, a brother, an Uncle, a friend, and a king. What we haven’t seen yet is Noah in love.
We have seen the brotherly love he has shown for his sisters, but not the real pull at your heart strings, can’t get enough of her, on my mind every waking moment type love. But one other thing we mustn’t forget about Noah is that he is a demon and as a demon he is susceptible to the madness that the call of the moon at Beltane and Samhain can bring.
In this story, Jacquelyn Frank shows us how the pull of the moon can drive a man do things he would never do if he were in his right mind. It will be the enforcers, Jacob and Isabella, that will have to dole out Noah’s punishment for his little indiscretion.
Kestra is the one that is meant for Noah and she is a strong woman. She is tuff and doesn’t take crap from anybody. She has dreams about a mystery man for several months, but when some guy just shows up and tells her that she is his soulmate and now they will be together forever … well, he has another thing coming! She is not just going to roll over and act all submissive and let him dominate her. She doesn’t care who he is. As far as she is concerned all that soulmate stuff is a bunch of crap.
This story was a great addition to the series. I loved the dynamic between Noah and Kestra. I enjoyed that they didn’t just meet and fall love and live happily ever after. I also enjoyed how Kestra was not a girly, girly but more of a tuff warrior babe type person and she stayed true to form right to the end.
When this story ended, there were a lot of unanswered questions but I don’t feel like I was left hanging. We now have quite a few mixtures of races and we don’t know what all the different new guys (and gals) can do. I will be looking forward to the next in the series.
I am going to try to be really careful not to give out any spoilers so those that haven’t been able to get your copy will still have the thrill of dis..Show More »covery on this book. I purposely refused to read any other reviews. I didn’t even read the blurb ‘about this book’ because I wanted to be surprised!
[Begin Gush] Wow. I totally loved this book. [End Gush]
This is the sixth book in the Nightwalker series. I highly recommend listening to them in order. Jacquelyn Frank has developed many of the characters throughout the series. You learn a little here and a little there about each one. Also, the plot thickened with each new additional book. Reading Adam first would be like skipping to the back of the book to find out what happens at the end.
This was the perfect way to end the series…almost. I was so excited to realize that Adam would make an appearance in this book and that Jasmin was going to ‘almost’ have her own book. Adam was perfectly melded into the story and it all made perfect sense.
When the story first started out, I had gasped in horror over the first several chapters. I kept thinking, no way … but Jacquelyn Frank had a bit of a suspense thing going on with this book and she drew it out very nicely.
There were several things that happened in this book that are still a mystery, so I wonder …. Children of the Nightwalker series??
The Narration Review This book was narrated by Xe Sands. Xe has narrated all the books in the nightwalker series. She once again held me captive with her enticing narrative and whole array of character voices and accents. If Xe Sands was chocolate, she would be rich decadent chocolates. :-)
