With Skala preparing for war with Plenimar - a war that continues into the next book in this series - "Stalking Darkness" illustrates just how evil the enemy truly is. While it's not especially graphic, I found a couple of parts a bit too much for my imagination and had to (briefly) skip forward.

I started the series with some hesitation after some reviewers of the first book complained about the "sex scenes"; assuming you've read the first book, you'll know what an exaggeration THAT was! There's a bit more "nookie" going on in this book, but I don't think it amounts to more than what one would see in a PG movie. Or prime time TV, for that matter.

I've had a growing pet peeve with the last several books I've read, so I also need to add that this book does not suffer that same annoying fate; thank you, Ms. Flewelling, for writing a decent ending! If you've ever invested 25+ hours to read through a series only to have the ending last a disapointing 30 minutes or less, fear not! Although I definitely plan to get the next book (Traitor's Moon), Stalking Darkness wraps up the first two books with an ending that makes you think "Oh, well that's alright then."

Audible.com doesn't have "Traitor's Moon" yet, but with both the first two books just coming out this year, I'm hoping the third book is not far behind!!!

If you like reading fantasy like Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Suns, or the Dune epic, or Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time Series, or Orson S..Show More »cott Card's Ender Series, or Stephen King's The Dark Tower Serial you will most likely enjoy this author. Her characters are charming and personal, occasionally annoying, but mostly just very life like. Her motives for people are realistic. In this book especially (not to ruin it) her end game was very true to life. Most people are not bad, it amazes me that in fantasy books they make the dark side so twisted and evil, it usually just comes down to a lack of choices. She makes her villains likable and real, and that is good writing.
Oh, and yeah, the main characters are gay...what series were you reading that this, the third book, surprised you with that?

Like all of Lynn's books, this one was a phenomenal adventure! Its amazing how she brings you into a world so real you would think she had actually b..Show More »een there. The adventure continues and I was on the edge of every word for this entire story. If your looking to dive into an intense and memorable experience I suggest you open your ears to this adventure!

On a side note to those of you who have listened to the other Nightrunner books: This is Narrated by Adam Danoff who isn't the original narrator of the other 3 books. It takes a bit of getting used to in the beginning. His pronunciation of many of the commonly used words and names are different. Overlook these and just be as grateful as I was to see Audible adding another one of Lynn's Books to the collection.
