I didn't want the story to end. I laughed, cheered and just plain couldn't stop listening. This is a wonderful story set in the bayous of Louisiana. T..Show More »he charm of the plain folks, and the Boston attorney who, was accepted and coerced by everyone to remain there won me over swiftly. The story was riveting and you couldn't help cheering for the good guys to win. Michelle and Theo are very likable as a couple and you can't help but think they were intended for each other. Give this one a try you will enjoy it as I did. About the narrator, she did a fantastic job. It is very hard to emulate a southern, cajun accent. I grew up in New Orleans and trust me when I say it is hard to speak the way they do unless you are born there. So my hat is off to you MS.Taister you did a credible job switching between a Bostonian accent to a Cajun dialect, even throwing in a twang of Mississipian.
This is the first time I have felt strongly enough about a listen to write a review. I read these reviews before I invest $ and download a book so a..Show More »s a thank you to all of you out there that write reviews I will warn you about this one.
As a woman I think I can write this review about the female main character in this book without being classified as just sexist. I am personally tired of women in these type books that are supposed to be so tough and self-reliant but the first time they get cold they look to the man they are with and say to themselves " I'm cold - I wish he would hold me" Oh brother!
The amateurish writing of the dialogs in this book is supremely tiring. It has taken a lot of willpower to make me continue listening through these horribly adolescent sounding conversations to finally get to the conclusion of the book.
If you want non-reality type chick-lit with a hint of suspense get this one but if you want a real suspenseful story look elsewhere.
I adore Julie Garwood and the other books in this series were great. Joyce Bean needs to relax with her accents. This is the second book she has ruine..Show More »d for me. I can't listen to this over and over.
I enjoy Romantic Suspense books with bite to them--this one was good--could have been more bite though. Narrators can make or break book. I enjoyed..Show More » the narrator also, however she doesn't do "southern" very well (the reason she got a 3). I know I have listened to her before and I know she has done a better job.
I started listening to the sample story about Jordan--she seems to be more herself in this one--she will probably rate much better, at least in my opinion.
The writing was up to par. But I think it's the narrator that really pulls me into audiobooks. I thought this one did a really good job with the voice..Show More »s. I could tell who was speaking by the way she did the voice without even having to listen to the narration to know. Was it just me or was she even doing an Alaskan accent for the characters from Alaska? :-)
I didn't realize the sexual scenes would be so graphic but I liked this one.
I thought this book was one of her best. The characters were well developed and the plot was interesting. Best of all, it was funny. As outrageous as..Show More » some of the characters were, you still rooted for them and wished you could meet them in person.
I downloaded this book because the ratings were so high. Usually that is a decent indicator. Not this time. This story is predictable, and written ..Show More »with little imagination - very superficial. The good characters are near perfect humans. The bad have little of interest in their flaws. All of which makes for a fantasy story that most do not relate to.
Julie Garwood is a very talented storyteller! I loved every minute of Sweet Talk: A Novel. I love her historical romance novels, as well as her conte..Show More »mporary romance novels. Angela Dawe is one of my favorite narrators who has performed more than 100 books on Audible alone. I really don't understand the negative reviews on Ms. Dawe. Her style of narration is very easy to follow and identify each separate character...male or female. Her ear for accents, such as those used in the Highlander/Historical Romances, demonstrates and confirms a real talent. Great Book! Definitely Credit Worthy!!
I finally finished the book but it was difficult to get past McFadden's Valley Girl voice. She sounded about 12 years old and she butchered the Minne..Show More »sota accent with shades of Valley Girl. Book was another good Garwood story but get a new performer!
