This Series has Potential, but off to a slow start
This was definitely not one of my favorite books from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It picks up where the Legacy of the Force series left off and ..Show More »Jacen Solo's betrayal to the Jedi Order will obviously have repercussions for the future of the Jedi and it's Grand Master Luke Skywalker. I won't give away any spoilers, but "Outcast" seems more like a setup book for a more elaborate plot in the series than a grand adventure itself. Unfortunately this book does not stand alone on its own accord. It will be interesting to see how this series plays out. I sure hope that the rest of the authors aren't as obsessed about Coffee, or 'caf' as its known in the Star Wars universe. I got tired of hearing about every character, either NOT having their morning caf or needing some caf, or going to get caf, or offering another character caf. It got old, REALLY QUICK, but unfortunately continued throughout the book. Overall, the book was average ~ not great, and not bad either, but the series has potential.
Okay. I follow Star Wars and have read most of the novels in the SW Universe. The book was palatable because a) it continues to develop the stor..Show More »y line and b) once again my favorite characters were brought to life by a *great* narrator. However, this series in general is beginning to become predictable. A couple more Jedi go nuts and Luke/Ben visit one more world and learn one more of Jacen's force abilities. *Yawn* The book could have been longer and could have developed the story line deeper. I also think that suddenly fabricating a new Sith race is.... kind of shallow. ( As was done by releasing "Lost Tribe of the Sith: Precipice" in May 2009.)
i feel like there getting back on track with SW books. the last series was not in depth enough and felt like a cheap pocket book. but i thought this..Show More » author who writes allot of SW books pulled it back in line in this novel. this series has a little direction now. and im glad they are offering SW books unabridged now.
This series is great. The story gets better as it goes with this one being very exciting to listen to. It was full of epic battles and twisting plots ..Show More »that had me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series Allies.
So far I think this is the best of this series of Star Wars books. a good story, although none of the books in the expanded universe have captured the..Show More » magic of the original Star Wars trilogy. But I admit that I am probably biased about that.
What makes this particular series of Star Wars novels such fun to listen to is the narrator. Marc Thompson is fantastic. He really sounds like he has studied these characters. Luke Skywalker sounds like Luke, Han Solo sounds like Han. Thompson's impressions of alien characters is superb. I have been looking forward to each book for the narrator as much as the story itself.
This series continues to improve as it the story progresses. This is a much more emotional story. It's has happy moment and some sad moments. I real..Show More »ly enjoyed and will listen to it again. If you follow the star wars universe, you'll want to continue with this story. If you haven't read/listened any of the previous Fate of the Jedi, then you'll want to read or listen to them first.
Marc Thompson is a great narrator. I hope to see more narrations from him and not just Star Wars books.
So I’ve read and listened to a large swath of the Star Wars cannon, 60 odd books. I love every title. So my thoughts and opinions are jaded by my feel..Show More »ings for this universe. But if you’re into Luke Skywalker and Jedi you can’t go wrong with the Fate series.
