The language used in "The Goose Girl" was really lovely, and I'm sure that reading it in print is a great experience, too. But the different voices of..Show More » this narration really added to the story. Although I'm used to single narrators, I will now look for "full-cast" narrations.
This is not a story for children, in my opinion. As in the original fairy tales, death plays a part, and there are some very frightening scenes.
The magic is difficult to understand, unlike most supernatural stories these days; it's not black and white but very gray.
I highly recommend this audio book to all those who like light fantasy.
I haven't read the print version, but I'm not a huge fan of a "full cast recording," especially when one of the main readers, the boy who plays Finn h..Show More »as a speech impediment. His s is overpronounced and sometimes pronounced with an sh sound so that "yes" comes out "yesh" or "yeth." It was incredibly distracting.
I really enjoyed this story in the Bayern Books. It was great to see how Razo's giftings came out and they weren't the mystical type. This book was ..Show More »funny and my family and I laughed out loud many times. Every time Razo realized he was good at something I was happy for him. This book reminded me a lot of the tv program "Psych." I would definitely recommend this book. Shannon Hale is a great author and the team of actors voicing the story are the same voices as the first two books. Good series and this book might be my favorite.....after "Goose Girl."
I just started listening to this and I'm not sure I can finish. in the last two books, Razo's voice was perfect. He sounded mischievous and friendly a..Show More »nd laid back. Forest born. In this book something about his voice reminds me more of a silly, sickly man raised in a palace with a snotty tutor. It changes the way I imagine him and that's not acceptable. He's just about my favorite character. I'm sure there was some circumstance that made the change of voice necessary but I just really wish that weren't the case or that they chose someone more Razo-ish. I almost want to rate the performance lower, but so far everyone else is great. I love Rinna's voice. But, RAZO!
