I just finished listening to Lisa Kleypas' "Dreaming of You," which I loved, and then went onto this book by Julia London. For me, this book..Show More » suffers by comparison - I just could not get into the story and I didn't care about the characters.
Highland Scandal grabbed my attention from the first.
It starts out with a mystery of why a Highland Laird would force his niece to become ha..Show More »ndfast with an Earl on the lamb from the Prince of Wales....the Prince of Wales has put a bounty on the Earl's head, and the Laird gives him a choice, become handfast to his niece for a year and a day, or be handed over to be hanged.
It's a well written story, and although there are romantic scenes, it's not 1/2 filled with them like many books.
It's as if you're transported into the Highlands of Scotland by Anne Flosnik's talented narration.
