I got into this book a lot more quickly and easily than the first of the series. I was doubtful after that one about continuing to read, but decided ..Show More »to give it a try because this one was on sale. The author really stepped it up, so I'm looking forward to getting the next one.

Having grown up in a small town in the south, I can empathize with the main characters and the things that they deal with. The 'who dun it' thing was good too since I was able to tell somewhat who was involved, but couldn't guess exactly who and why.

If I had a complaint it would be the narrator's inconsistency in voices and accents. But, that wasn't so distracting that it took away from the story.

I enjoy all of Suzanne Brockmann's books but what confused me on this one was the lead in announcer saying this book was read by Gabra Zackman, so I w..Show More »as all geared for her and on come Maia Guest. My hope is that by writing this review Maia Guest will get the credit she deserves.
I really appreciate how Suzanne spends the time developing her characters and integrates them into other stories. It makes you feel more close and involved in the story. She is never afraid to write about a political, emotional or social subject. She also doesn't present the subject in a way that turns the reader off. I really enjoy her writing.

The "Admiral" was introduced in several of her earlier novels so it had helped that I had read this one farther along in the series.
As I travel a great deal in my job, I have enjoyed the Navy Seal series and heartily recommend the novels of this author.

All Suzanne Brockmann's books are about the romance, and there is just nothing romatic about these character voices.
