This is one of my favorites from Kleypas. I enjoy the steady incline of the plot and the intricacies of each character, but my favorite is how she clo..Show More »ses her novels. The epilogue leaves the reader with true closure and a warm heart. More than anything I enjoyed the narrator. Rosalyn Landor is by far the best. I don't know how she does it, but the male characters sound rough, masculine, and sensual, while the female characters are delicate and beautiful. This is a must read!!!
The characters are typical Kleypas: likeable, enagaging, well-developed. However, the conflict between the hero and heroine picks up too strongly in ..Show More »the second half of the book and goes on for too long. I kept waiting for the negative tension to be addressed and resolved but it kept going and going. The nature of the conflict is also pretty cringe-worthy and a little heartbreaking.
Despite this, I don't regret spending my credit on this book. The rich characters and unpredictable plot is (eventually) rewarding.
