I liked the story, I am glad I kept listening, but I had a really hard time with the narration... not a huge fan of this woman's voice. That was the o..Show More »nly drawback, but when you are LISTENING to a story, it is a huge part!! So if you can get past the narration, the plot is good
Maybe it's because I live in Tennessee or maybe it's because I know ladies just like these ladies -- but I found these "Diva" books to be delightful, ..Show More »silly, and fun. They are murder mysteries but certainly different than any I've read/heard before. For those of you who are looking for intellectual, SERIOUS, thought-provoking books, maybe these aren't for you. But for those of you over-40 women who may have experienced a hot sunny summer afternoon of teenaged silliness with your girlfriends, having a Sonic frozen drink with a little boost while laying in the pool (problems put on hold for an afternoon) ... then you are going to love these books. For those of you who have NOT experienced that, for heaven's sake, do so soon! And listen to these books!
I actually came across these just by chance but I decided to give Dixie Divas a try and I was hooked. I have never laughed so hard in my life. My hu..Show More »sband would actually ask me what so funny I wouldn't realize I was laughing. The relationship between Bitty and Trinket is one the best older women relationships I have heard in a while. Let's not forget the sexy men in the book Jackson Lee and Kit. I love how these relationships have progressed in the books. The trouble all the divas seem to find there self in is so funny. If you are going through a bad time or just need something to lighten your world I suggest these books. I really did enjoy them and hope the fifth one will be on audio soon. Oh one more thought I just hope my relationship with my husband is as much fun as Trinkets parents is.
I have listened to all of the Dixie Diva books and although these may not be the most scientific or have real life consequences, I am in love with the..Show More »se characters. I feel like I know all of them personally and I want to be a Dixie Diva. Being a southerner myself I can completely relate to a lot of the southern sayings and opinions/thoughts. Some are just so funny, but you may have to be a southerner to "get" them.
Trinket and Bitty are my favorites. I love their squabbles and I think that Karen Commings has brought these characters to life. Sometimes I laugh out at their antics.
Karen has ensured consistency of the characters between all of the books and that makes it very easy to flow from one book to the next.
I don't think these books would be a great "read", but I can tell you that they are a FANTASTIC "listen." I love them!
