Wonderful Fantasy set in Napoleonic-Era style tecn
I'm sick and tired of nobles, kings, emperors, dukes, lords, and knights. It looks like Brian McClellan feels the same way.
The narration was..Show More » fantastic. Christian Rodska usually does great and this is no exception.
Main components are as follows:
* Oliver Cromwell style protagonist. "The age of kings is dead" indeed. * Magic Musketeers, or "Powder Mages." They're super interesting and fun. * Old Magic/Feudalism vs. New Magic/New Technology * Frontiersman + Native Tribeswoman ala French/Indian war style groups. * Old Gods and Ancient wizard creatures.
The Characters feel real and realized, the plot is interesting and fun, and the ending is satisfying and a good setup for the next book in the series.
This book was so much better than the first book... I didn't expect it to be like this.. when i red the first book, i have enjoyed it, but didn't rea..Show More »lly love it.. but this book made me a big fan of the series. Characters really develop in this book and secrets come to life.. I was really amazed of the the events and how things changed to the characters.
The ending of this book was really good... I can't wait to get the third book and know how things end.
Narration was really awesome... The narrator brought the characters to life and gave them for each a unique identity.
The pacing of the story, and the way magic worked. The pacing was fast without racing ahead, and made for a tense yet enjoyable read. I kept on wantin..Show More »g to know what would happen next, and it was hard to put down.
