I have been an Audible customer since 2006. I have never been motivitated to leave even stars for a book. After over 400+ books I am moved to write a ..Show More »review for this book. This book is a real thriller in every way. You never know who the are the good guys or the bad guys. It never had slow periods. I was amazed how it managed to keep my attention througout the entire book. Scott was wonderful as always. The short chapters helped keep place on my player. I have purchased some Melzer before. I will be going back to check for more after this. Thanks Brad.
I had to stop listening a little bit into the book
This is a service to those Brad Meltzer fans out there- BEFORE you listen to The Fifth Assassin, which I was really looking forward to, you need to re..Show More »-listen to The Inner Circle so that you are caught up on all of the nuances at the beginning of the book. It has been awhile between book releases, so frankly I had forgotten all but the major premise of the previous book.... so just a heads up to reread the prequel to this book first in order to get the most enjoyment from it.
It started with a mystery and ended with a whimper
I have been a big fan of Melzter's work. I've read or listened to about half of his books and have enjoyed The Inner Circle and its follow-up The Fift..Show More »h Assassin. But The President's Shadow stands out from these and not in a good way. While the first two installments were a race against the clock with bits of historical clues littered along the way, this felt like an overly long break in the formula. It was more about the characters lives rather than an all-encompassing conspiracy plot that need to be solved. If I would change something, it would be that this book stick to the formula that works, create another genuine adrenaline rush with smart villains who are using historical artifacts, documents and even landmarks to their advantage.
