"Spy tales focused on international deception in the post 9/11 world" according to Steinhauer's web site. That's a good description. I am really looking forward to the next book in the Milo Weaver saga.
The narrator does a great job. His "female voices" were sometimes a bit much, but overall listening to this narrator was a pleasure.

However, to trully understand and enjoy this audio book to the full, you must first read The Tourist which is the first book in the Milo Weaver series.
There are many, many characters in this book and the story is quite complicated. It helped to have re-read The Nearest Exit just before embarking on ..Show More »the "listen"; however, I still found the book quite difficult to follow as a listener. I expect that the book would be a very satisfying "read" because, when confused, I could have gone back to review previous chapters. This being said, I enjoy a good puzzle and An American Spy is one of these. Mr. Pittu is an excellent narrator, making this audiobook one of the best performances I have heard this year.
