Sensual, raw, action packed and disturbing. This was my first erotic western in parts I was shocked my some of the content but I just could not s..Show More »top listening. At times this is raw and sometimes you I thought Canie could be nicer to Desi. Yet I read on. I enjoyed the action scenes but what sticks in my mind is the SEX (there's a whole lot of it). This the best of the series ( I've read 4 of them).
I read the previous reviews because I brought the book up to look for more by the same narrator and was curious about what others thought. Now I have ..Show More »to join the discussion!
I obviously thought the narrator was masterful - but that's probably the problem - he goes (successfully, I thought) for more of a performance than most and you either enjoy the artistry, or you don't. I also enjoy the novelty of a male narrator, and as long as you're going for a sexy book, you might as well bring a sexy voice along for the ride (pun intended - sorry.)
I also differ from others, in that I didn't like Caine's Reckoning (I don't like romances with sexually abused heroines - serial rape spoils my mood for love.) and so I could only be pleasantly surprised by the sequel. I thought Sam's Creed was far more enjoyable. I'm not sure what the objection is, in fact. It's a 'thrown together' romance with a teasing (rather than angry or anguished) tone that builds to a satisfying, Dirty Harry on the range, climax. As for the pacing of the sexual relationship, I thought it was fairly typical of the genre and perhaps even more believable than many - He and she all alone in a cave with no t.v.... What would you do?
Great story. Have to agree with others that the "thees and thous" being misused was distracting. The narrator was okay, not great. I feel Sa..Show More »llie Mae was a whiner. More than once I wished I was there so I could smack her and say "shut up and wise up". Tucker's character is wonderful as is the story and I love the ending, which is why it gets the 5 stars.
This story keeps you on your toes all the way through. Shadow is true to form looking good and sporting an attitude. The heroine did not wine or simpe..Show More »r like women in similar stories, which was refreshing. In all...good book, good narrator and worth your credit.
