Ever since the fourth book ended I was waiting for the fifth book to come out. I was so happy when I did the "Yasmine Galenorn" search for the um-teen..Show More »th time that I saw a new book had been put out on audio format. The forth book left me on edge to find out what was going to happen to the D' Artigo sister's lives. This book is worth the credit, it leaves off a couple of months after the last book. I suggest reading all books to fully understand the series. There are plenty of character developments to keep the reader interested, full of great Other World experiences to keep it exciting. I love Maggie and how she is growing.

Just tell the story, which is actually good. It doesn't bog down like in the previous books but steady that you don't want to stop listening!

Unfortunately, you must really read the previous books 1-6 to learn the background of the main story and characters because you won't understand any of the events without doing so!

The narrator really needs to add some feeling into the characters because it's really tiresome listening to her "reading" the book instead of acting it out!

Lastly, why the change in cover?
The book cover is much better than the audiobook cover which is really HOMELY/UGLY!!!
Which character is that anyway? Camille? YEESH!!

The book company should FIRE that person for changing the cover!

It is easy to pick one sister as your favorite, and one as your least favorite. My least favorite has always been Camille. But this book shook that up. Camille is the strongest out of the 3 sisters, and it usually falls upon her to shoulder some of both of her sister’s burdens. While this book is still action packed, we see a vulnerability in Camille that we have not seen before. It shows that even the strongest of us can shatter, and need some help collecting the pieces. We also learn a lot about Smoky's own vulnerabilities. We learn of his past, and how he became the man/dragon he is now. And we get to meet his parents!
The narrator, Cassandra Campbell is wonderful as always! She can sound gentle and feminine one minute, and gruff, angry and very masculine the next. She can portray elated passion as well as crushing misery.
You have to read these books in order, the first is Witchling. Yasmine Galenorn is a writer that makes her story flow like music, and Cassandra Campbell performs it beautifully.

I can't even pinpoint why I was di..Show More »sappointed, the characters are still strong and the family ties are even stronger but I just didn't feel the need to listen to it again to see what I might have missed. Which I have done for many of the previous books. I would actually listen to the latest book then go back and re-listen to the series up to the new book to enjoy it all over again. The last few however left me feeling sadly disappointed and/or disgusted and traumatised over what had happened to my favorite characters.
