J A Jance has done it again! I became so involved with the story and characters that I finished too fast. I guess I'll read book 2 of the series. I j..Show More »ust love the strong characters in Jance's writing! Great work and keep going!
Ok book, definatly not a page turner. The weird music that cuts into the story at times is because this book was first made as a book on tape. The mus..Show More »ic lets you know its the end of the tape and not the end of the story. When it was transferred to digital file the music was not edited out. Hope this helps.
I've read almost all of Judy Jance's books, and I am sad to say that I wish I had given this one a miss. The dialogue left a lot to be desired, seemed..Show More » quite juvenile in some places. I found it annoying that she had her heroine--a former newscaster--telling her friend, a homicide detective and retired Marine, how to go about investigating as well as micro-managing him. That is, when she wasn't completely ignoring his sound advice and getting herself into trouble. Yeesh, give me a break. It's so disappointing when one's favorite authors put their names to fare such as this.
Being a fan of J.A. Jance I was surprised to be very disappointed with this book, and could not wait for it to finish. The main character is facing ..Show More »many crisis but her overriding chore is being saddled with a runaway, annoying teenager. I am not sure if it was the storyline or the narrator or just the entire tone of the novel, but the narrator sounds continually angry and frustrated. Check out one of the more worthy books by this author.
This was my first J.A Jance audio book and I have been to Sedona MANY times. I loved the way the author sets the scene it makes me feel like I'm back ..Show More »there again. The main character is identifiable to both women and men. She is strong, smart, funny and I really enjoyed listening. There is also a little forensics aspect added that makes the listener think hmmm. It's a well thought out plot with believable characters I would recomend this book to anyone.
I had listened to other Ali Reynolds stories by J.A.Jance and each time I thought I might not listen to her next book in the series. I am very glad I..Show More » went ahead and listen to this one as it was the best one she has done in this series. I had felt in the other books that Ali was lost but this book got her a new job and purpose for the story. Lots of nail biting suspense and still the calm of the family interaction. Great characters in the story. You will enjoy it.
I gave the story 3 stars as it is an average who done it book. J. A. Jance is a good writer and the story held my interesting as well as provided susp..Show More »ense. Ali had been finishing up working on her Mothers election campaign for the mayor's office. She is called to do investigative reporting for the Mother of a women accused of killing her boyfriend ex-wife. While police were working the crime scene they find a man's murder. Ali is off on both cases and conflicts with Dave (dep. sheriff) a friend and former boy friend. The suspense and "who done it" of the cases keeps building and it is hard to stop listening long enough to attend to vital chores. Karen Ziemba again narrates the story and does a good job. If you like J.A. Jance and/or mystery stories you will enjoy this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the ongoing story of Ali Reynolds and her wonderful aide Leland Brooks. The story line was exciting as was the seco..Show More »nd underlying story relating to Leland.
