Although the entire series..Show More » is suppose to be "funny" and I did find the 1st two amusing, this book for me had actual LOL moments. I wasn't crazy about the narrator, at first (or his Lucern voice), but after only one chapter decided it was his performance that added to the humor and grew to really enjoy him. This is my favorite book in the series so far, best narrator and best story (IMHO). We got a taste for Lucern in the 1st two books, bitter, cold, angry and reclusive, not at all someone I'd have any tolerance for, but fortunatly for us Kate, his editor (and indended love interest) is a strong and tolerant woman, and thanks to his mothers match-making antics, is fooled into attending a romantic book conference as a featured author. Over the course of the conference, Luc thaws out and becomes very heart warming and charming, and I couldn't help but have affection for him in the end. Kate was a great heroine: strong, persistant, kind, patient, beauitful everything Luc needed.

I don't understand why this book got so many bad reviews, if you've enjoyed the first 7 books in this series, you should enjoy this one as well! Each ..Show More »book can be read as a stand alone story, the author does well to explain enough so the reader wouldn???t be lost if done so, but there is a lot of back story about who???s who and their relationships in the other books. The narrator isn't the best for sure, but neither is he the worst either! My only complaint was how abruptly the story ended, that???s partly due to the writing, but the narrator didn???t modify his speed or cadence in which he was reading and basically ran the last sentence into the end credits!!

This story chronicles Thomas Argeneau finding his life-mate and their search to find the Argeneau???s missing matriarch, Aunt Marguerite, who at the end of book 5 decides to become a P.I. and flies off to Europe on a case (she goes missing at the end of book 6). The story includes the usual ???vampire-(a-la Ms. Sands style) boy-meets-mortal-girl-who-turns-out-to-be-his-life-mate-then-proceed-to-get-it-on??? but also includes a great mystery laced with some pretty intense nail-biting scenes. Thomas and his life-mate Inez (a Portuguese import to Brittan) are lead on a wild goose chase throughout the story, and although we are left (mostly) satisfied with Thomas and Inez???s joining, the story as I mentioned, ends quite suddenly with no resolve to Aunt Marguerite???s situation. It appears the next book in the series is all about Marguerite, but there should have been some wrap up to that effect at the close of this book IMHO, but as I???m thoroughly engrossed in this series, I plan to continue to find out what has happed to her.

While I am still in love with Armand Argeneau (Born To Bite), Cale Valens is one vampire after this womans heart too! The kitchen sizzles in this love story set in the kitchen! I do not know where Ms. Sands comes up with all of these excellent stories, but I am so glad that she shares them with us and so glad that they have been brought to audible.com as well! I do wish they would carry more of her stories too! This is another must read for any vampire fan!

Brilliant, as you would expect for LS, this is perhaps not my favourite Argeneau romance story, but it was still a great listen. It mainly focused on..Show More » Paul and Jeanne Louise's battle to turn both Paul's dying daughter and Paul before it's too late for them both. It was also good to hear what's been happening to the other characters from previous books.

The only downside is that now I have to wait AGES for the next one in the series.

Worth a credit? Absolutely - but, if you haven't listened to the rest of the series then do yourself a favor and start at book 1 then work upwards.

Lynsay Sands is known to give us awesome listens - so if you are like me (a big Argeneau fan) and have already listened to books 1-17 then you pretty ..Show More »much know what you're going to get. I stopped the book I was listening to and immediately, excitedly and eagerly started this one (I know I know that's a bit sad but hey!).

This has a brilliant start as Valerie escapes her 10 day capture and torture by a bloodthirsty rogue vampire and meets Anders (in walks talk dark & handsome) on the team that saved her, but she's unaware that he's also the very thing that she's just escaped from. Anders realises he's met his life mate and there's instant attraction, bewilderment, humour, friendships, a few tense moments, an exciting delivery and a happy event together with past familiar characters who either make short appearances or are part of the story which all contribute to filling the hours quite happily.

However, on the negative side and I'm really sorry to say that this listen left me slightly disappointed as it just felt a little bit of a watered down version of her usual action packed sexually charged listens. I wanted a bit more passion, more sexual attraction and interaction and more excitement between the two lovers which seemed a little tame. Also, there didn't seem to be much focus/history/involvement in the story on the villains as to the who/what/why's etc. until the very end.

Worth the credit? Despite my negative comments, this was a very creditworthy vampire tale and a good addition to the Argeneau's family tree. These books could all be a stand alone listen as each mentions the origins of their species however they all contain some references to other family members so, to get the full Argeneau 'family unit' effect, I highly recommend them all.
