I have read that Catherine's old work is much better than her new work. I agree . This book is better that her new ones. The story was good but the di..Show More »alog was wired and silly at many occasions !!!! The narration was good . Actually the best performance I heard for Anne Flosnik so far. I liked it :)
Wow. When I read the review of this book, I was not sure that I would purchase it. However, since I like the author, I decided to give it a go. I am v..Show More »ery glad that I did. It was very much in the CC style, but beyond that it was better in that it had a unique twist! However, if you don't want sexual content (although not explicit) don't read this.
I am beyond words, but Catherine Coulter outdid herself with this book! It was absolutely breathtaking!!!!!!!! Genius! The story was so fabulous and s..Show More »it on the edge of your seat..........some areas made me pass out laughing. The narrator Anne did a great job with the different character voices....I loved the Reverend most of all! A triple recommend for me!
This book left me wondering in certain areas. For example, a drunken man torments and attempt to harrass or rape a young women with 3 kids. He knocks ..Show More »her down and cause her to miscarry. The book gives nothing about how the husband was angered over the mistreatment of his wife or the loss of thier unborn child. I expected some fist play or something but nothing happened to avenge that action. I wanted to know how that was dealt with.
Here there is more of a story. There is still the sex, which is up to individuals preferences, right? The plot here is better elicited. Two twins, han..Show More »dsome, of course, whose father and mother were married in an earlier book. There begins intrigue and danger, and one does not know why. Something about a ghost? The plot is about the father being in mortal danger, and how he and his family survives. See, a plot (read my review for book # 9 - Lyon's Gate). I must admit that after reading some truly fine pieces of Englich literature and returning to this, I find myself at a great loss. Sorry. There are some really fantastice pieces of historical literature out there, with true plots, real adventure, and life as it really was. I believe that Mrs. Coulter has her place in the scheme of things, but that ... if you want a true plot with real characters you might have to look elsewhere. Again, sorry.
Well, sad, sad, and more sad!
Mrs. Coulter puts a lot of steamy scenes in this book, which, if one wishes to read such, then you will have your..Show More » hearts desire fulfilled. Not me. I wanted a plot, please. There was no plot. Nothing but: Revenge? Horses? Marriage? Yeah, all of this mixed up into an **idea** of a plot that was never really formulated by the (ugh, ugh) "beautiful" man. Oh, right, there are two beautiful men, twins.
This is simply a quick placement of words on paper for eager readers hoping for more of their favorite author. Or maybe this was more the fault of a pushy editor, driving the author to write, saying, "Finish, finish, finish ... ", thus we are left with a sloppy, cut and chop book. Badly done.
This is my first review and I have had the pleasure of listening to many audible books. If possible I would give this book a (-5). I am extremely disa..Show More »ppointed in this book and would not recommend it to anyone with half a brain. From the first chapter of the book it was apparent I was listening to the worst drivel ever written. The dialogue is terrible, and the readers' British? accent even worse. I found myself wanting to lead the heroine by the hand to a psychiatrist. The characters are boring and incomplete, they are introduced into the story at random with very little if any bearing on the plot (which is elementary at best). The storyline was vague and juvenile. I REGRET purchasing this book and wish I could get back the time I WASTED listening to it.
