I did however have to get around having listened to the first few chapters. Eve took on a odd tone for me having listened to it. Sample it for yourself!

My problems is with the main characters. I have read all of the other books in this series and have come to feel like i "know" the main characters. In this book, virtually all of the dialogue involves angry, snippy, arguments between the main characters. They are angry with each other, yet worry over each other's safety. The dialogue, between any combination of two of the main characers is predictable, and distracts from the story. They weren't likeable at all, in this installment. I found my self drifting off during the dialogue between the "good guys" on several occasions. The ending is fun, but unsatisfying. If you're a fan of this series, you'll forgive the shortcomings of this book. If you haven't listened to this author before, start with one of her excellent earlier novels in the Eve Duncan series.

I'm a fan of Iris Johansen and the Eve Duncan books. However, I could hardly get through this audio book. I knew within the first couple of minutes -..Show More » the narrator's voice was like nails on a chalkboard. In my opinion, she sounded like an old, nasty school teacher. She gave everyone (except maybe Bonnie) a bitter, nasty, hateful voice (especially Joe).

The storyline was ridiculous. I kept thinking to myself - why am I listening to this???? (Okay, maybe better than the static on the radio while travelling - but not much better). Joe takes on such a spoiled brat persona (could be the narrator though that helps portray this image). Without giving anything away to readers who may enjoy (??) the book, I just want to say that maybe it's time to retire the Eve Duncan books and move onto something else. Seems like the author is out of good storylines. Don't waste your money or your book credits.

I think this is maybe the worst book I've ever listened to. If I could give it a negative star I would. The storyline is not believable, the character..Show More »s unreal, accents bad and dialogue written at a grade school level. The characters have to say everything out loud because the author appears to be limited in conveying feelings or emotions through the written word - causing one reviewer to state "show, don't tell". This is the first book I've listened to by this author so maybe that is why it seems worse to me than to others. My husband tried to listen to it and just gave up.

But she absolutely wrote another great thriller. I would definitely recommend this book. It was interesting, well written and kept the reader wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed meeting new characters as well as having some of her previous ones’ lives expanded. Can’t wait for her next book.
