I normally don't write reviews but I felt a need after seeing the other reviews for this audio book. I didn't think it was all the bad as the other re..Show More »viewers thought. It's a nice story to listen to when your in your car, however I'm getting tired of the music in the background at times seems out of place. Since this is an early Janet Evanovich prior to the Plum creation you can tell. It's not written in the character point of view like the Plum books and there are more characters to deal with so naturally will not be as developed and the story is a bit rushed. It's a pretty good setup for the Full Tilt characters and then the continuing series for Max Holt. This is not Stephine Plum but it is a good listen. If you like a little romance, comedy, and a slight bit of detective stories then I think you'll enjoy this Janet Evanovich offer.
I love the Stephanie Plum novels and wanted to like this book. Although the story was fast-paced and action-filled, there was not enough suspense, not..Show More » enough romance, too few real laughs. My disappointment had much to do with the reader, who though skilled, tried too hard to come up with individual voices to help the listener follow a story that was heavily weighted with dialog. This is a novel I think I would have enjoyed more had I read it instead of listened to it.
I have read all of the Stephanie Plum series and they are very good books. This is the first time I have read a different story by Janet. The charac..Show More »ters Max-a-Million Holt and Jamie Swift are quite the couple. Although this story was not as funny as the Stephanie Plum stories, it is a very good story. There are parts that are very funny in the story. I hope that Janet will publish more books in this series. There are six currently: Full Scoop, Full tilt, Full blast, Full house, Full Speed, and Full Bloom. I have read all six books. The only difference I noticed is that Max is a character in all six books. Jamie and Vera are characters in five of the books. Otherwise there are different characters in each book.
