To sum up it is about two basic storylines in this fantastic world - one is a continuous exploration to find the "key to Terra Vitae(sp?)" and uncover the true map of the world in which they live; second is a religious war between two lines of the same origin. The story goes that Urich and Andan were brothers of the original creator of the world who became "lost" and descendants either followed Andan or Urich and a Holy War started out of an accident that was interpreted as an attack and the war goes on and on through, so far, two generations because of continued acts of violence being carried out in "the name of Andan" or "the name of Urich" without authority to do so and it stirs up more hate and vengence. This is the second book and the violence and hate is escalating. The characters are endearing and Anderson has even created "rock opera CDs" with several well known and respected musicians and artists in the industry (including Mike Welsh(sp?) from Kansas). There's a sample at the end of the audio book - great hard rock - just the way I like it! I look forward to experiencing the music and art in the CDs.
