I made a mistake and got this book based on the overall star ratings rather than by reading the reviews. The writing is ridiculously bad. The heroine..Show More » spends the majority of the book running around in just a nightgown or chemise, or even nearly naked. It's completely ridiculous and isn't necessary to the story at all! There are so many parts to this book that just left me scratching my head. I'm willing to suspend disbelief and don't need 100% historical accuracy, but half the things going on in this book wouldn't even be normal today. Who on earth would go fishing in their underwear? There are just too many bizarre things about this book for it to work. Trust me, and skip this one.
As far as the audio goes, the performance is actually OK. I would give Stevie Zimmerman another try on a different author.
What an enjoyable book! It’s always nice to read a historical romance with strong female characters even if they are a rarity for their times. The boo..Show More »k was written so well that I found it easy to relate to the heroine. I only wish there was a little more of her family included in the story beyond her marriage. I feel it would have added to the story. Nonetheless the book was worth a credit.
I really enjoyed this story because it was so completely different from the regular romances. Two people with personal struggles find each other , und..Show More »erstand each other and help each other. I thought it was a beautiful story and I was glued to it. It was well narrated and very well written. As a support worker for the specially challenged my heart went out to both of these characters who through their own strength of character were able overcome and accept their differences despite the cruel opinions of others.
