While still a good read, Haven lacked the intrigue, excitement, and pace of Aurora. Everything is a struggle for survival and after a while you becom..Show More »e some what bored with the experience. The book also becomes slightly predictable. I would still recommend this book though as certain parts are integral in the rest of the series.
Freedom's Dawn was a return to boring and a drag like the Rings of Haven was. It was Okay at the beginning, drags and makes you angry in the middle, ..Show More »and wins you over yet again at the end. One of the greatest endings which made the pain and anger completely worth it.
It certainly suffers the middle book syndrome. But its still a good listen. If you like the characters and style its just fine. There are a few new..Show More » wrinkles added and a minor mystery for now which could grow. This isn't meant to be a negative review and I don't want it to sound like it. Out of the couple thousand printed books and the almost couple thousand audiobooks I have purchased so far, I think I have bought both versions maybe 10 times, and never contemporaneously. Seems a smidge redundant and the narrator never keeps up with my reading pace, so I end up not really hearing the narration.
Yes. This audiobook packs some very well written fast paced action scenes wrapped around the continuing saga of two female main characters who, altho..Show More »ugh quite different in their individual talents / strengths, have one key similarity - they are two 100% rock solid beauties. If I was magically transported into this series and served on their ship and had any crumb of officer status I would find a way to be in their general area as much as humanly possible. As the call goes out "All officers to the bridge!" who is always magically there to open that sealed door for either / both to get though and then nonchalantly cadge a glimpse of them striding down that inner passageway in their skin tight "Star Trek - esque mini skirt suits? Lieutenant Me! That's why I would listen to this again.
