The narrator does it justice. I am ex-army retired and a computer weenie (26 years), and believe that John captures the flavor and essence of the military and the techie side of warfare as well..lots of action and lots of good ideas and new concepts.

Well there is not much to say, I dont know if it makes sense to review a book thats the 3rd out of 4 books (or more if you count the side stories) bec..Show More »ause if you have read the first 2 then you know whats going on and why you should read this one, but here it goes.

So the story continues and its even better then I thought it would get, many if the issues I have had with the other books having side plots that go nowhere and other ones that do but dont make sense, many of those things are not here which is a good thing.

There are some things that are hinted at in the last 2 books that you know have to be going on but are not sure how its done and its sorta touched on here and really its awesome as ever - the regeneration stuff turns out is a little easier then it was thought to do and evidence that might help explain why Earth was helped to prepare its self for the war.

Well this is the last book in the series of 4 but its not really over, there are 8 more books in this series.

The best order to proceed after..Show More » this book is to go with Watch on the Rhine, then Yellow Eyes, then on to Cally's War and Sister Time and Honor of the Clan then The Tuloriad and Eye of the Storm and lastly The Hero.

I liked how this series turned out, I was apprehensive about it because I didnt like how since it was before Sept 11th many things were strange in regard to the military and preparedness for war but after that it was put into high gear, so there were some things that were strange to here in this book.

The other problem and its with all of Ringos books I have read and thats almost all of them on this site and that is that there are these side stories that seem to be going somewhere and just never do, but its ok because in the end the story isnt really lacking those unfinished side stories but it would be cool to see what happened.

Near the end you are setup for the next 8 books (see above for proper reading order) but mostly Cally's War and Watch on the Rhine in the very end - Cally's War, its strange because since you know there is a book titled that and it takes place when she is older you know she doesent die in this book even though she is put in danger a few times so you are waiting to see how things play out and its pretty good.

Then there is Watch on the Rhine and Yellow Eyes which should be read before Cally's War and you are setup for that in the last few minutes of this book so its pretty good and after you read these and the next 8, lol, go on to The Looking Glass series and then the Troy Rising because they are alone this path and are just great as well

I have been reading the entire Aldenata series and have so far loved it. However this book has nothing to do with the series in the order they are wr..Show More »itten anyway. It is set 100s of years after the book before it and can be skipped if trying to read the series. As far as the book goes, it is pretty good but not near as good as the rest of the series .

I could have purchased this book a month ago but other reviewers were saying that it was heavy on the adult material. thinking that it was a romance ..Show More »novel by another name i passed on it. out of desperation for a book on a long drive i picked it up, i found it to be a good book yes there is a small bit of adult topic here but nothing over the top and nothing i dont think of a real life. how ever as a fan of the series i wanted to know what happend to cally and papa oneal and its here all here as well as the start of some of the background stuff that was hinted at in the original four. i like the author i love the narrator and i give it four stars only for its length. also there is allot les sir yes sir in this book. enjoy!

this following Cally's War and that one not really being much of a "War" so much as its a "War in Cally's mind, or little world" I was expecting this ..Show More »one to be like that, I really liked that book but I thought it could have been more.

the book starts and ends with a scene sorta the same, Cally with her Sister, no spoiler there its the name of the book - Cally and her sister havent seen each other for many decades and while Cally was off fighting the Posleen and pretending to be dead her sister was living with the Indowy and learning there ways getting less and less human so she acts strange.

There isnt much if any Posleen here its mainly the secret group that Cally works with with her grandfather and other family members, its really much better then I thought and I was hoping it would be good since I liked the other books.

I can't understand why titles in a series are so often released out of order. Fortunately I was already familiar with both Cally's War and Sister Tim..Show More »e (the latter is STILL not available at Audible as of this writing). To be familiar with the histories of several characters, you also need to have read nearly all the other Aldenata books as well.

After accomplishing that feat, this book has a couple of serious revelations and the O'Neal vs. O'Neal climax is not to be missed. Apparently this novel sets the stage for Eye of the Storm which I hope Audible will have in the near future.

This is labeled as the 8th book I think but really its the 6th book - the first 4 are Hymn before the battle, Gust Front, When the Devil Dances, and H..Show More »ells Faire - after that you should read Watch on the Rhine, and then this book because they are still on Earth at this point and fighting the Posleen - then go on to the Callys War and Sister Time, and Honor of the Clan and on to The Tuloriad, then Eye of the Storm and lastly The Hero.

This sroty was started with Watch on the Rhine where the SS was brought back, that book was sorta slow on the fighting and the whole SS thing was sorta strange, this time its in Panama and there are older people getting brought back to fight and stuff.

There is some more fighting here and some really stupid parts about war crimes and stuff that make no sense to me since if its against the Posleen how is it a "war crime"? werent these laws made for Humans not creatures that eat you?

There is a really good part with one of the AID's that is just awesome to watch play out, in the end its cool how the last of the Posleen that arent fighting anymore and have given up are doing things that are sorta normal.

I would say that this is much better then Watch on the Rhine, but not as good as the first 4 - if you are reading this series and you simply love it, then you should read these at least this one and skip Watch on the Rhine if you want to there isnt any real continuation of the story from that book in this one.
