Not sure why this author felt the need to insert a subplot about a Rainman killer into this story. Quite frankly I had some difficulty differentiating..Show More » between the Rainman and the Strangler, especially when my listens were short and spread out. The romance between Taylor and Baldwin added little or nothing to the story and their relationship gave us little worth remembering. As the book approached its conclusion, there was little left for the listener to figure out. The Strangler's motivation was a stretch and I just don't think this story was very believable, even for fiction. I would have liked to see better character development and improved story telling.
Sorry, but I really had trouble fighting my way through the whole thing. The timeline was weird and didn't make much sense, in that often too much ha..Show More »ppened in too little time to be realistic.
There was a horrible error made about 1/3 of the way through the book. It was so stupid and so unforgivable that it simply kept preying on my mind.
Somewhere about 2/3 of the way through the book, it dawned on me that much of the driving essence for many characters was right out of "The Girl Who..." (Steig Larrsen). That did me in.
BTW, the performer was OK, not great. Her "Southern" accent varied from Tennessee, to Southern Virginia, to Texas. Didn't make much sense.
I've enjoyed other of the series, but, that probably killed it, for me.
Wasn't sure I was going to like this one as much as the others but boy oh boy what a book it turned out to be. Great character development and the co..Show More »ntinuing plot certainly thickens ...Can't wait for next installment we get to meet the Pretender at last...OH BOY, OH BOY !!!
I have read all of the Taylor Jackson series, and I always eagerly await the next installment. I was not disappointed, in fact I think this was the be..Show More »st one yet. It was a bit of a departure from the usual format, but it was suspenseful, different, and I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for what happens to Taylor next!
