The narrator is completely wrong for this character and unfortunately she sticks around for the first 3 books. Mac, the lead character, is annoying in..Show More » the beginning but really transforms into someone much more interesting. The real disappointment in this narrators representation of the story is Barrons, which she makes sound like an 80 year old man. Any chemistry that happens between Mac and Barrons comes across a little creepy, instead of hot. That being said, stick with the story. Read the first 3 if you can't handle this narrator but be sure to listen to Dreamfever and Shadowfever. You will be blown away by the 2 narrators and the way they interpret the story.
This is a simple book. If you're looking for profound - look elsewhere. It was entertaining and helped my driving time pass - and for that it earned..Show More » 4 stars. The end had me downloading the next book immediately!
Thats all I can say about this 3rd installment in the Fever books. I love this series. A little romance but mainly suspense and intrigue. Many more..Show More » questions were answered in this book but not enough and I suppose my only complaint would be the major cliff hanger at the end. Now I will have to wait for the fourth book to be published hopefully sometime in 2009 to find out what happens to Mac (and others). It will be a long wait!
I love this series so much I am sorry the next book will be the last. While Natalie Ross is a good narrator I hate the fact that they changed the narr..Show More »ator in the middle of the series, Joyce Bean was excellent she was MAC. I truly enjoyed her energy and her wonderful southern accent. Why didn't they have her and Phil G. together that would have been great. Ms. Ross had no southern accent and mispronounced the name Rowena repeatedly (about 200 times). When inconsistencies like this occur I wonder whether the audiobook producer listened to the previous books. I dislike Narrator changes in the middle of series but regardless I absolutely love these stories. I would just like to see it redone with Joyce Bean.
I only became interested in this series within the last month. The author's Highlander series is one of my favorites but I was a little gun-shy to see..Show More » that she was departing from her usual style and genre. I am glad to see how very wrong I was to hesitate. This series has been a fantastic and wild ride and ends in such a gripping manner that Ms. Moning's fans will be left breathless and satisfied.
It was unfortunate the earlier books were not performed by the dynamic team of Natalie Ross & Phil Gigante. I am sure that Joyce Bean does an adequate job but from the samples offered she sounded much too old to be an early 20's girl from the south. Not to mention that Mr. Gigante has a talent at portraying Ms. Moning's very strong male characters.
