The romance between the two main characters really enhances the story, but doesn't bog the story down. I don't read romance novels, but a little romance and sex in a book like this is fun. The author develops the romance between the two characters thru the series and makes it intriguing to watch. It's fun, sexy and easy to believe. Each book is complete enough to stand alone, but it's better to read the books in order since some things are built on what occurred in a previous book, but not dependent on it. The reader is really good and is able to develop voices and stay true to them thru the series; you know exactly who is speaking all the time. I highly recommend this series and have to a lot of people!

This is the 4th book in the Mercy Thompson series and it didn't disappoint. I love the narrator Lorelei King and unfolding story from book to book. ..Show More »This was as good as all the rest but there is more that happens with her relationship with Stephen the vampire. Her relationship with Adam grows too as Mercy finally learns to rely on someone else. We find out more about her walker abilities in this book. These books are non-stop action from beginning to end and I really enjoy them. But audible where is book #5??? Where is Silver Borne?

I finished listening to Moon Called (the 1st book in this series) and immediately bought the whole series in print and read them all in a week. I then..Show More » bought the audio of the 5th book, Silver Borne, because i loved it so much. To me the 1st and 5th were the best, but the whole series is extremely well done. Wasnt crazy about the voice of the male lead in Moon Called but for the record by Silver Borne this narrator was in her stride and every voice was perfectly suited to the characters. Other great thing about these as audio is that they are not that long but long enough. LOVED THIS BOOK. Nice steamy ending too though this one is the only one in the series that were really focused on romance. FYI- the rumor is there will be a 6th book in 2011. I checked!

It was just too short for me I wanted more!! But as a story I suppose just the right amount of length. It was wonderful to see Mercy and Adam togethe..Show More »r and away from the pack. I can see their bond has grown strong and steady as ever and that they know each other really really well. After reading so many descriptions of Adam's gorgeousness, I'm starting to wonder who does he look like LOL (any suggestions?)

Compared to the other books, this book is definately written for the fans of the book. I mean the wedding, getting Stephan out of the gutter, finding out about Mercy's mom and sisters and of course her DAD! There were so many tidbits that were so enjoyable for the fans.

THe greatness of the series is that Mercy and Adam are supernatural and tough but not invincible. There are consequenses to everything that they do. This book is no exception. Not only for the injuries but also how the "monster" was killed. I　like how the walking stick was taken care of the end. I wonder if it will stick with the Coyote or come back to Mercy like all the other times.

I now eagerly await for another book.

PS I　hope Stephan finds some sort of happiness soon.

Because I knew this book was coming out, I re-listened to all the Mercy books, the Alpha and Omega books, and all the short stories in either series i..Show More »n their proper order.

With all the entries in this double series fresh in my mind, I have to say that this book and "River Marked" are my two favorites. The overall quality of the series makes it a close call. The series started very good and has gotten better as it goes along.

I like the fact that Mercy still has lingering trauma from when she was raped. I like even better that she doesn't dwell on it. When bad things happen, instead of moaning about her problems, she takes action. And action is what this genre of book is about. I like that she feels free to take actions that she knows her husband would not approve, and I like that she is secure enough in herself and in him that she doesn't have to spend a lot of time and energy moaning about that. Again, she calmly recognizes the situation, but takes the action she feels necessary.

I like the fact that even when she doesn't think she can win, she still does what she thinks is right. I like the fact that she doesn't default to a big gun in a fight. She has the Coyote's gifts, and she uses them.

I like the fact that not only Mercy, but many of the minor characters have grown and changed over the course of the series. And I like the fact that the characters who get the most on-stage time are the likable ones. One of my problems with some authors is that unpleasant characters get so much time onstage.

Patricia Briggs knows how to build suspense, and she does it to great effect in this book.

If you have not read the previous books in this series, I think you could start with this one and still follow what is going on, but I recommend that for the richest experience, you start with the first book in this series ("Moon Called") and read both this series and the Alpha and Omega series in order of publication date.

I highly recommend both this series and this entry into the series.
