This romantic highland tale is a very simple story that starts out slow (for character development & interest) and ends nice. Laurel and Conor are b..Show More »oth very stubborn which gives this love story spunk and chemistry. Although the first half was a bit slow it did pick up and kept me interested. All the other characters are interesting and well developed which I appreciate.
Also, I have to say, although I enjoyed this book it seemed to be another Cinderella type romance novel rather than a highlander story. There weren't many struggles or battles.....just toward the ending. So, if you go into this book knowing its not a typical highland warrior tale but more of a spunky romance......I think you will enjoy this one.
Any highlander book that has a strong skillful woman as the heroine has got my attention. This second book in the series introduces the heroine, Maken..Show More »na, as a strong willed woman who is more of a tom-boy type than a girly girl. She is well trained with a sword but lacks the social and hospitality skills of a Laird's wife. As the story progresses she has to learn how to be a woman in more ways than one. The hero, Colin, who is also a strong warrior, has deal with being a new Laird and controlling his lust for Makenna, The story is made more interesting because of the return of Laurel and Connor from book one. This really added to the depth and appeal of the story.
This book is adventurous, romantic, lusty, passionate, steamy, intimate and has a good storyline. I liked this one and am looking forward to book three.
Michelle Sinclair usually writes a very enjoyable story. But it seems she let someone with virtually no concept of what it is to write with a purpos..Show More »e finish this one for her. The last four hours of this book Could have been finished in 45 minutes without skipping anything of significance! (I have no idea how many pages that translates into). Honestly, it was a complete waste of time added for no reason with no talent to tie up the beginning catalyst when one well written epilogue was all that was needed. I'm not sure why I stuck with it. And it was such a shame to leaving a negative impression after such a very good story. It really did have great personalities and a interesting plot that grabbed your attention but lost it when the climax of the tale came 4 hrs before the end.
NARRATOR: Anne Flosnik is one of those love her or hate her performers. I've heard her called the book whisperer and admittedly it's a humorous way of describing her style of narrating. If you can get past that... the male and female voices are each very distinct personalities and if the story is intriguing she delivers it disappearing into the background herself and leaving the book to entertain, just the way it should be.
CREDITWORTHY? Yes and no... l like this series, so yes. But the last of it makes me lean toward NO. How much do you desire to hear this brothers tale? It was very good until the end, and I did want to hear Coles part of the tale, so for me its a yes.
HEAT FACTOR: STEAMY with the occasional full rolling boil.
Another good story. I adore these McTiernay brothers. They're mighty and strong and sexy but mostly I love how they fall for their women. Such a roman..Show More »tic story written well and narrated well.
