This is a well written story about Ian and Sileas who find themselves circumstances beyond their control. The story basically shows how each of them..Show More » dealt with their situation....both very differently. .Sileas essentially makes Ian work for it. Along the way is adventure, wooing, romance, and funny scenes that make this a nice historical romance.
The narrator was great. Overall, he did a nice job on the women's voices. I'm looking forward to book two.
I really enjoyed this second book in the series. Even though Alex is a philanderer he is still so charming, sensitive (in a warrior way) and very fun..Show More »ny. Glynis was just as delightful. She is no shrinking violet....more of a dandy lion. She was not afraid to speak her mind, as well as, learn from mistakes and move on.
I'm glad they are staying with the same narrator for all the books. He did a nice job.
I do agree with the reviewer 'Candateshia Pafford' about reading book 1 first. There is a lot of prophecy that comes true in book 2 that is quite funny and poignant. If you don't know the prophecies the story will feel flat, leave you a little confused, and you'd miss out on a good laugh.
The Warrior is a entertaining addition to this highland series. I enjoyed the other books in this series so I was looking forward to Duncan's story. ..Show More » As with the other books, the characters are well written and are easily relatable to the heartbreak, struggles, and triumphs along the way. I admired the enduring love between Duncan and Moira and the strong family bond they shared. Oh, and I loved Sar the dog! He was a wonderful addition to the family.
My only negative would be that any conflicts in the story got resolved too quickly. The battles could have been a little more suspenseful and challenging. Well, maybe that will happen in the next book in the series.
Derek Perkins does a great job narrating. His voice has a way of bringing the characters to life, which I appreciate.
What a great conclusion to this series! I know I'm not giving anything from the story away when I say that this book is filled with suspense, danger,..Show More » passion, mystery, betrayal, romance and love. This story lived up to my expectations not only because of the love story between Connor and Ilysa but the story was exciting and held my attention to the end. It is sad that this is the last book in the series but each book had such unique angle that in the end it all came together to produce a great ending.
The narrator did a wonderful job and I highly recommend this series.
