I did like this book BUT, the narrator was almost robotic at times, a couple of times sounding like she was reading a Dick and Jane book, so simplisti..Show More »c were the words/sentences. I got past it but it would creep up again in the next chapter so it never completely went away. Sometimes it did feel like you may have missed something and I didn't really find the reasoning of the killer that enthralling. There wasn't much depth there. And everything seemed a little too convienient with certain things. I felt at a point that it started to loose direction and things got a little more convienient and not told real well. I also didn't care too much for the ending. Anti climatic. Overall tho, I didn't shut it off, the story kept my interest, even with all this other stuff I didn't care for. I gave it a borderline 3.
Dead Weight is Book 2 of Theresa Ragan's six novel Lizzy Gardner series. The series is best read in order, which I did not do. Book 6, when Lizzy le..Show More »aves the private detective business, seems to complete the series. That is unfortunate because Lizzy and her weird group of cohorts are really interesting as are her cases.
Kate Rudd, who narrates the entire series, is one of the best.
I have enjoyed books 1-4 but found this one to be deplorable to Lizzie.
The entire series Ms. Ragan has had Jared help rebuild Lizzie's hea..Show More »rt, soul..everything and then Ms. Ragan decides to take away?
For me this was a ignorant move for character writing.
I did not enjoy what has happened in this book. Quoting Lizzie "nobody alive knows me". I think a lot of the readers of the series thought they did based on the reviews throughout the series until this book. Apparently Ms. Ragan did not.
One plus is I always enjoy Katie Rudd's narration of Audible books and she had done an awesome job for this series.
I wish book 6 well as I won't be reading it or recommending.
The best, and final, novel in a wonderful series!!
T. R. Raran ended the Lizzy Gardner series with Evil Never Dies which is the best book in an excellent series. At least she indicated in her end note..Show More »s in the Kindle version that this is the last book in the series unless she changes her mind.
As with other books in the Lizzy Gardner series this novel is set in Sacramento and the cases include serial murders. Evil Never Dies has more complexity than other books in the series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Evil Never Dies and all six novels in the Lizzy Gardner series.
