I don't usually write reviews, and I am NOT a fan of the vampire romance genre at all! But I saw that other people thought this was funny, and felt li..Show More »ke a laugh but I was prepared to doubt. Don't hesitate, truly, Molly Harper has such a funny turn of phrase, very dry wit, and she's written a smart incisive character (no pun intended) who is just like the friend we all want. Expect to laugh, well worth your credit :)
I must say that ordering these books by Molly Harper White was a laughable choice. I laughed so hard at the one liners and found the books to be so en..Show More »tertaining. I will keep an eye out for more by this talented author!!!
For the third book
In the third book, the storyline is focused on the mysterious women Jane's lover Gabriel hides from her “for own good” and th..Show More »e new book store that she inherited. She also finally confronts her sister in a scene that is really touching and funny at the same time. The series is not adventurous nor exciting like the books I usually prefer, but gives me a very heart warming giggly fun (and it's about vampires!) while listening to it. I also though the narrator gave a wonderful performance throughout the series. A nice ending to a fun series!
For the whole series
I liked the premise of the first book a lot. A small town librarian getting shot accidentally and turning into the vampire and then getting mixed up with murder and mayhem. I think the Jane Jamison books are essentially cozy mystery with a vampire twist. It doesn't have the usual fight against the races, apocalyptic prophecy nor the dark outlook other paranormal series often have.
The series is really really funny, especially the snarky, quarky and snide comments Jane makes. Some might compare the series to the Betsy series, but IMHO there is a BIG difference. I actually like the main character! Sometimes I wish she wasn't so nice, but I suppose in real “family feud” people do have love/hate relationship with loved ones just like her and try desperately hard not to ruin what relationship they have. So if you like paranormal stuff but not really into violence, blood, or doomesday story, this is a great series!
There's no reason for me to go into the background of the "Nice Girls Don't..." series, by now we are all here because we love Molly Harper's writing ..Show More »as well as the narrative talent of Amanda Ronconi. What I will say is this - get this book!!!! If you liked any of Molly Harper's work, then you shouldn't even be doubting this purchase; if you've never listened/read any of Molly's work, then by all means, get this book (though starting at book 1 would be helpful too), but be warned - once you start reading Molly's work, you WILL become addicted!.
*Warning* If you listen to your audiobooks via earphones/earbuds, just be aware that this book will make you look crazy because there will be many times where you cannot help but laugh out loud (I got a lot of funny looks while I was grocery shopping).
ABSOLUTLY!!! Molly Harper always brings snarky, sarcastic, witty fun to her books and I KNOW before I even plug it in that I am in for a side holding,..Show More » laugh out loud good time. I learned early on to NEVER eat or drink while listening to Molly Harper/Amanda Ronconi because there is a very good chance I would be snorting it out of my nose because I am laughing so hard.
Amanda Ronconi is amazing reading Molly Harper's words. I have to say I have already read the book in paperback and just got the audiobook today and ..Show More »as soon as I heard the way Amanda does Nola's Boston/Irish accent it made me so very happy that she was doing the narrating. Being someone who lives near Boston I laughed a lot at the accent because I hear it all the time. I also love how she can just flow from this off beat Boston/Irish accent to a smooth Tennessee twang when the Characters of Nola the main witch on a mission and Jed the neighbor are talking to each other. I already really liked the book because I love a good scavenger hunt and that is pretty much what Nola has to do throughout the book. I also love when there is a sexy next door neighbor that has trouble keeping his shirt on and funny vampire friends who if you have read the Nice Girl books you know their history already and it just makes certain situations that much funnier. This is again another outstanding Molly Harper book that I will read and listen to again and again.
Don't miss this free holiday gift from Molly Harper -- it's delightful. If you're already following the series, you will recognize many of the charac..Show More »ters of Half Moon Hollow. If you're not, it's time you're introduced. This is not the usual romance story -- more like just a holiday gathering of the whole wacky group. It is told from Gigi's viewpoint and is full of the usual humor and snarky remarks between characters, plus there are some holiday recipes given at the end. Amanda Ronconi is awesome as usual.

As a huge fan of Molly Harper and of the Half Moon Hollow series I jumped on Rebound the first day it was released. If it weren't for Amanda Ronconi's..Show More » standard-setting brilliant performance I wouldn't have made it through this one. While Harper's plots are usually wonderfully multi-layered with the main plot surrounded and supported by other well-crafted sub-stories, Rebound barely had anything at all. The 'Gigi + Nick' story felt flat and, as a love story... meh. Their pairing made absolutely no sense and the two of them together seriously lacked the chemistry of the couples in the previous books.
Other reviewers have mentioned the issues of character/personality continuity. Believe them. Incongruent actions and responses stopped me in my tracks every time. The biggest example of character inconsistency is Gigi herself. I didn't like this version of her one bit. She came off as a self-centered spoiled air-head - not the smart, snappy, and independent girl that I couldn't wait to read about. Keeping the characters true to themselves would have created opportunities for a much fuller and more satisfying story.
Throughout the book I couldn't shake the notion that I was reading about an older guy with no redeeming features (except his 'man-parts') preying on an impressionable, emotionally needy, and dim-witted young girl. Not the usual Molly Harper fare.
I love Molly Harper her books are really good and I love half-moon hollow series I love how she combines other people from other books so that just ca..Show More »rries on and they're very interesting and my family is from Kentucky and everyplace she mentions in this book I've been because my families from around there and these people sound exactly like the people there and that's what I love so much about her books
Fan girls and boys of Molly harper all just let out a squeal as they picked up this little treasure.
Romance, revenge and a new ability; Ple..Show More »nty to intrigue.
The story itself is a little weak and those who aren't a die hard fan desperate for more will not enjoy this. But lets face it, if you're reading it at all it's because Molly Harper's sweet phrases continue to entrance you again and again.
Honestly she could write just about anything and her fans would buy it. And I'd be right there in the front row. Because she knows how to inject relatability, humour and strength into all her lead characters. And it's nice to spend time with people like that. *she said from her dark lonely cave of unsociability*
The Jane Jameson world cash cow has plenty more to give so keep the spin off's a-coming.
