I fully enjoyed the "naked" series so was excited to start the new "duchess of love" series. I was entertained the entire story. Sally Mac Kenzie is ..Show More »a clever, witty writer and Abby Craden in excellent in narration. Truly worth listening!
As a historical romance lover I've listened to A LOT of books from this genre and it's rare but I just didn't feel the romance at all.
I thi..Show More »nk this will be the last SM book that I'll listen to as I disliked the heroine's attitude which was always moaning about everything and constantly comparing the hero to her Rake of a father which he didn't deserve, it was a bland, amateur, roll-your-eyes, dull romance listen that left out completely the wedding etc which should have been the best bit - or even an epilogue telling of children etc.
I didn't like the narrator which may have made a slight difference.
Worth a credit? Unfortunately, this was one I wasted - so NO.
It's funny that I just wrote a review earlier stating that that book had been fairly tame... and it seemed surprising considering that the entire stor..Show More »y revolved around mature themes, and sex was the main topic... it was still very tame. But very good! I had put off this last Duchess of Love novel for some reason. I'm glad I finally listened... it was well worth it.
NARRATOR : Abby Craden did a good job. She's not one of my favorites and her style and this particular novel were well matched since the majority of the story is told as each characters thoughts. Her intonation... which otherwise is grating at times, worked perfectly with the inner musings driving this story. Her slightly whispering rather staid delivery suited.
CREDITWORTHY? : I wouldn't rush to use my last credit on it... but yes, I think it is.
HEAT FACTOR : As I said... sex in many forms is the main topic here. But it's not steamy at all... So I would say LOW.... but mature.
