i was not sure if I would like this book based on the reviews to it. But this was a very enjoyable book; I like the reader and the story line very eng..Show More »aging. To think I may have missed this book because of the reviews. If you like paranormal romances take a chance on this one.
I am all for strong women with brains, fighting skills, and confidence. I am not interested in listening to a story where the heroine is so over the t..Show More »op stubborn that she almost gets herself and everyone around her killed multiple times, is stupidly rash, rude, and so annoying that it is hard to wish her on anyone, especially the hero.
I almost did not read the next book because of this one was so frustrating. The hero and heroine fought constantly, then all of the sudden, the heroine is like "wait, I love him so I will try to be less irritating." (Seriously that was actually her internal dialogue.)
So, worth the Credit or the time it woll take to listen to this one? Not in my opinion. Maybe if you find it on sale you might want to pick it up, if you'd like to read the next book. (Although I have not finished it, it has started out much better.)
It just took 1 bite... for me too and I was hooked
This is the best one yet and if you're a paranormal romance lover then this is a great series to get into. It has Vampires, Gods, Goddesses, Werewolv..Show More »es, magic and a Gargoyle who stole the show.
Styx, (the King of the Vampires) is drool-worthy, sexy, and very very handsome (a good start) but he's fed up with all the Werewolves on his turf and they're headed by Salvatore (the King of the Werewolves), he's not quite as drool-worthy but still sexy and handsome too (added bonus). Styx is heartless and he has a plan to kidnap Darcy who's a compassionate, beautiful but feisty bartender as he's found out Salvatore wants her desperately. But his plan backfires when his kidnapping of her starts off a chain of events that'll change lives.
This very well-written, exciting and enjoyable story has mystery, passion, humor, surprises, funny banter, an unpleasant family reunion, treachery, action, sex and, of course, a lovely romance. Ms.Ivy has the ability to draw the listener into the richly described plot, then entertains us as she skilfully juggles her characters about, makes their personalities develop and grow into either very likeable/loveable characters or wicked villains and, in the end, we've been thoroughly entertained. My only peeve was the constant repetition by Darcy of the word "cripes" but I guess in her situation I'd be saying a lot worse.
Worth a credit? Oh boy is it ever a YES and, IMHO, if you too are into sexy vampires and paranormal romances then press 'Add To Cart" now you won't be disappointed but, if you can, start at book 1.
Anna is drawn to tall, dark, sexy and handsome Spanish Cezar and they have a night of passion where she loses her virginity and a few pints of blood (..Show More »unfortunately not shared with the listener). When she wakes up he's gone and she's changed discovering she's immortal so blames him for turning her realising too late that he's not only tall, dark, sexy and handsome but he's also very dead and a vampire too.
Two centuries later she's seeking revenge (unknowing that the Oracles have punished him already by making him impotent and in service to them all that time) as she is actually 'Special' not a Vampire. However, when Anna sees him once again she forgets revenge as the sparks fly, along with a lot of sexual tension, Cezar is instantly aroused by her (yippee) and he tries to explain she's not a Vampire but can do magic. Alas, the Oracles have given him the job of keeping his hands off her and keeping her safe as her life is being threatened by a wicked Queen whose also her Aunt and Anna has an important Prophecy to fulfil.
Cezar has a battle on his hands, he lusts after her and she just can't say no (well who could) but along with their passionate, tender but doomed romance there's action, humor, magic, great dialogue, sex, mystery and suspense along with supernaturals from previous books including a funny French Gargoyle, Fae, a Goddess, a Werewolf and some sexy Vampires which sweeten this enjoyable listen and they all try to defeat the Queen.
Worth a credit? Another enjoyable entertaining paranormal romance gratefully added to my library, along with the rest in this awesome fantasy world, so YES a creditworthy listen. If you're not following this series already I humbly suggest you start at book 1 because of the histories relating to all the other characters involved.
Poor sexy gorgeous Jagr the moody, unsociable, reclusive vampire that prefers his books to people is unwillingly sent on a mission by Styx (his King) ..Show More »to bring back Regan a stubborn, genetically altered Werewolf and one of Darcy's missing sisters but she's just escaped 30 years in captivity being tortured so the only thing she's looking for is revenge.
They have great chemistry and the romance isn't rushed as they understand each other as they've both been imprisoned and tortured and Jagr sympathises with Regan as to why she want and must get vengeance. He agrees to help her before he brings her to Styx and Darcy but even the thought of home and family makes her feel trapped and unhappy. There's plenty of action, likeable characters, humor, various villains, an assortment of supernaturals, a funny French Gargoyle, magic, twists, torture, passion and Regan's character grew and developed thanks to the caring, touching support of Jagr who makes the painful sacrifice of walking away from his soul-mate.
No disrespect to the guy on the cover but Jagr is a very handsome, long haired, sexy, drool-worthy vampire - so what happened with the cover picture?
Worth a credit? This is another enjoyable addition to the series but, IMHO, not the best - but definitely creditworthy and I'm sooo looking forward to book 6 Beyond The Darkness which is about the Were King Salvatore.
Salvatore, the charming, arrogant, sexy, Alpha King of the Were-shifters has been looking for 4 genetically altered pureblood females cubs that were s..Show More »tolen from him over 30 years ago and these females were bred in the hope that they would restore his dying race of Were-Shifters. He has already found 2 but 1 is now mated to the the King of the Vampires and the other is barren. Suddenly he gets a whiff of a pureblood female and its 'ding ding' time for both his libido and the mating urge but there's just one problem…..
Yes, Harley is one of those cubs, a pureblood female she's strong-willed, independent and very capable but she has been raised by a Cur (a half-blood werewolf) who's got his own evil agenda. He has kept her cocooned and has brainwashed her into thinking terrible things about Salvatore so, unfortunately for him, she's doesn't want to play!!
However, they are both just pawns in an old enemy's plan to rule over everything so they must work together, despite the sizzling sexual chemistry and Salvatore wanting them to complete the mate bond, to destroy the evil being that's threatening their very existence. But wolves will be wolves and before too long fur, fangs, tongues and other bodily parts become hotly entwined. Various characters from past books make an appearance and Levet, the funny French Gargoyle, is a help but he suddenly disappears and that's a question for another book.
Ms Ivy is a gifted paranormal romance writer who brings in lots of new characters then adds new twists and turns to each of her books which smoothly moves the whole storyline along so it never becomes stale and you're never bored. Her imaginative world is full of action, tension, adventure, magic, drama, humor and there's lots of strange, weird, wonderful and sexy inhabitants that'll grab you, entertain you and won't let you go until it's oh-so-sweet HEA ending and then leaves you panting for the next book in her series.
Worth a credit? This whole series is soooo very credit-worthy and I've now just downloaded books 7, 8 and 9 WITHOUT reading what they're about…... because she's just that good.
As usual, Alexandra Ivy managed to write another book in a series that started out with Dante, Viper, Styx, Jahgr, Conde, etc and they've all flowed s..Show More »eamlessly right into Tane and Laylah's story. It's probably one of the better ones like Viper or Stlyx's stories with twists and turns that you don't see coming until they hit! I would highly recommend Tane & Laylah's story if you've liked the others in this series. Way to go, Ms. Ivy, you've done it again and getting better and better as each storyline comes out! Keep 'em coming!!!
